Got some Endorphin Speeds, now the knuckle joint on my big toe is killing me every run. Coincidence? Or should I buy some new shoes?

Just don't risk it. Keep those shoes, just put them away for a little bit. Get new ones or just wear some old ones. See if the toe pain goes away.
I have the complete opposite experience. Whereas I can sometimes get pain in my big toes (slightly limited range / bunions), the rocker on the Speeds helps. Definitely my favour shoe and prefer over 4% / N%.
Wear a different shoe

I'm bummed, because I love the ride of the shoe...hoping the toe pain clears up.

My pair feels great! Hopefully it's not the shoe? Feel better!
I don’t get toe pain from them, but the only thing I don’t like about the speed and pro is the feeling at the very end of toe off. Must be the carbon plate and how it is formed / positioned.
I suppose the plate has exposed an issue with your foot perhaps?
Speaking from past experience with inflamed big toe metatarsal joint pain, it is something to be avoided, as it can last for months. If you think the shoes are contributing, then I would avoid.
How did you introduce the shoe into the rotation?
I like to do a shakedown run with new shoes on one of my non-key workout days where i just jog an easy pace for a few miles and throw in a few strides. Then see how everything feels for a couple days before bringing them into full use.
With so many differing shoe designs(structural) these days its a good practice to ease into new ones since your body has become wired/adapted/optimized for what it has been using.
I think my inflamed MTP joint was caused by a pair of adidas boost shoes, and it progressively got worse over time. The shoes looked fine from the outside. Years later, I cut the midsole open and their were unseen cracks right under the toe-off high pressure point underneath the MTP joint. The shoe softened up there, and that just then magnified the concentration of force on the joint.
If the shoe is causing any type of that pain, from the get-go, without even being able to build significant mileage, then in my book, from now on, it is something to avoid.

Right, A plated rockered shoe inhibits the natural windlass mechanism by decreasing the amount the toes need to bend at toe-off.
Perhaps since this feeling is new to him he is overcompensating by applying more pressure to his toes at toe-off rather than just letting the shoe do its thing. Reminds me of my occasional jogs in Altra Escalante's where i Purposely increase engagement of my toes to give a specific strengthening workout to my feet.
I have the same issue. Love the shoes. This happened with my right toe right after my first run, and now in left one 6 runs after.
Love to shoe and the spring it gives. But worried about the toe pain!
To be clear, the toe pain is not really killing me.. though it’s more than a niggle that I would ignore.

No carbon plate in the Speed.
Any idea how to reduce the toe pain?
It's the carbon plate rocker. It's worse on shoes that don't use Pebax foam. I have the Speed Elite and it hurts my arches. The Next% are way too narrow.

Good point. Should have just said plate. TPU plate in the speed.
Very stiff shoes can help you run more economically, but if your foot is not allowed to flex then it no longer feels as smooth through the gait cycle, so the rocker geometry is added, especially with an emphasis on toe spring. If you're toe joints are not flexible enough in the direction to be permanently fixed in the sprung toe, it will hurt.
You may need more toe flexibility or shoes with less drastic toe spring.
Interim update.
I have switched to my old shoes for recovery runs. Also massaging my toes gently during the day, and added a slow bike ride - both to basically get the blood flowing and speed up healing.
I continue to use endorphin speeds for speed work. The amount of pain in the toe has reduced. My guess is that my body is starting to accept the new shoes.
Will post here in a couple of weeks how things go.
Hi,
I did put a thicker rubber insole in mine, so my toes on landing squish down a bit on landing which has worked well.
Cheers
Steve
