Okay, so the Brojos were RIPPING on Touhy a few podcast ago after she ran a 9:19 3k several weeks back. Fast forward to this weekend, she ran the 1200m lead off leg on an all-american DMR team then comes back 3 days later over 6k at XC Nationals and placed 24th (All-American again) to help her team finish 2nd. All after coming back from a serious knee injury. Fantastic freshman campaign and outdoor hasn't even started. I realize people have insane expectations for her, but this is undoubtedly a step in the right direction for her.
We weren't ripping on her at all. Do you want me to provide a transcript as I have a servicde that transcribes it? We simply said it was good she is racing, pointed out it wasn't a great result for her time wise and said it was close to what she ran as a freshman in HS. We mainly said we were happy she was racing again - let's dont hype her too much.
The reality is if you are the 18th fastest woman in the country in the 3k of whatever she was, a top 40 showing in xc is far from crazy. Think about it. IF every singel individual from NCAAs ran xc and beat her that would mean at most 48 people in the mile, 3k and 5k. Considering some of those people are double counted and many of them didn't run xc, it's not crazy.
She almost made NCAA indoors individually. If you can make NCAA indoors in a distance event, all-american is a realistic goal. It was great to see her run so well and be so aggressive.
