I have a common name. I get a lot of Venmos for random shiz from people I don’t know.
I understand some frauds operate this way. What’s the best thing to do...keep the money or send it back?

Keep it.
California gave away billions in unemployment benefits to people who go never even had jobs before fake COVID. Even infants got debit cards. No wonder all my lazy unemployed neighbors are always buying new things. Keep it. California is so stupid they will never trace all the degenerates who got free money.
Yeah just keep it. They won't even track the thousands of xovid relief scammers. You're not a scammer, you are an innocent person who caught a break. Take it and run. Use it to get ahead because these con artists in power who all get dirty money they don't deserve may screw us over again.
Never send the money back and don't spend it. If it's still there in a month, good for you. If someone sends you money accidentally, it is on Venmo to resolve it. These scams all rely on you taking action.
Wow. The lack of ethics in this thread is appalling. If it is safe to do so, send the money back. Don’t listen to these idiots with their covid crap. Basic morality has not changed: Do not take what is not yours.

Ethics and letsrun? How does that go together.
But Sake Master is right. Don't keep the money. Send it to me.

How do you tell the difference between the scammers and the honest mistakes?

This is really terrible advice. The money you send back is yours, while the money that was sent to you is a fiction.
