Just FYI. Megan and Harry never once said they were leaving the royal family and moving to the US because they wanted privacy or to live a simpler life. They said it was because they were afraid for their sons safety, and they weren’t getting support from their family or “The Firm”. Harry explicitly said he was very much afraid of history repeating itself, referring to how his mother died. They did what they had to do, and it took huge balls!

At least Oprah earned hers. The “Royal family” are the ultimate grifters. Amazing the British taxpayer still puts up with such nonsense.
Actually it would be cheaper just to pay the royals and not the 1451 members of Parliament. What has Parliament done for the Brits? Removed them from the EU and botched covid-19. I say let the queen and princes handle governance.

They are living in a 4.5 million dollar mansion with Oprah as a neighbor. I am guessing that was from family money. I was never a fan of the archaic monarchy, but it is extremely tacky to go on a national interview to attack family and air family dirt.
They kept titles and went back to Megan's home city. Harry lost his family.
Meghan played the victim card to the hilt. I was suicidal, the media was unfair because I was black, I cried about dresses at my wedding, I was so lonely, I didn't want to tell Harry, someone asked about my baby's color.
Who paid for her mansion? I am tired of the royalty. We should retire this whole system. Its crazy in this day and age to have to bow to the queen. Meghan knew the system before she got into it. Enough of the self created drama.
No sympathy for any of them.

Argument can be that they did nothing to help the gossip about her and she is just clearing the air on her side of the story.
I don't know, I don't fault her for that at all. I would have done the same.

By the way, does the "royal family" have a last name? All you ever hear is Prince William, Prince Harry, Queen Elisabeth, etc. What the hell is their last name? And what nametape did Harry wear on his military uniform?
Just googled it, their kid's last name is Mountbatten - Windsor but Harry doesn't seem to have a last name.

The lady doth protest too much, methinks. If you want out and to disassociate with the Brit Royals, if Harry has committed to this move to make her happy then you turn the page and never talk about it outside of home ever again. She never has to work a day in her life, her kids and grandkids never have to work a day in their lives. What goes in the press should never affect any of them if they chose to ignore it, so there would be no need to "clear the air." If she loved Harry and wanted to be his wife that much, then suck it up. There is no way Harry and those closest to him didn't give her fair warning of what to expect. Her claims of being blindsided by any of this clearly say either she's lying or she's stupid. She's an actress and wants a Hollywood lifestyle so living a quiet, private life is clearly never going to fly. She wanted all the attention that goes with the life she's chosen, now she has to deal with the negative consequences. People who aspire to celebrity have a psychological disorder.
I do love that Rojo recorded this to watch later, I wouldn't even be interested in the highlights. Goes to his values, I suppose.
Do they run ? Do they participate in any regular physical or sporting activity ? What is Meghan's 5K PR ? Harry's ?

Rojo thinks he is a Running Royal so they are basically related.

Only $4.5 Million ? It must be a dilapidated shack compared to Oprah's house.
The truth is usually in the middle. Both sides are going to speak positively about what they did in a situation that deteriorated quickly, and find offense at what the other side did wrong.
It's never good to air the family secrets. Sure, Meghan wanted to defend herself and her actions and those of Harry, but this just tosses gas on the fire instead of leaving it in the past and letting the fire die out.
Lesson to be learned. When you try to defend yourself in an interpersonal dispute, it's almost always impossible to do so without making the other person look bad. True in marriages and divorce, among siblings, etc. Better to be the bigger person and leave it in the past, than come out looking bitter and vindictive. Just suck it up and determine to let your own values shine through by not seeking to defend yourself or trying to get even. You want to walk away with your dignity and respect. Character counts. Be charitable, forgiving, and gracious. And you can't do so if you're insisting, "But I was right and they were wrong."
"It's in the past." Say it over and over. Make it your new mantra. "It's in the past." You can't change the past, so don't dwell on it. Move on. In the end, the people who matter most will eventually understand why you didn't retaliate or defend yourself by tearing others down.
Anyone who comments on this without watching the full interview is embarrassing him/herself. The tabloids and even the establishment media have endlessly covered them, and now you have the perfect chance - two hours worth - of hearing what they have to say - and then drawing your own conclusions. If you don't do so, your comment is a joke.
I'm sorry your life feels so very empty
I watched it with my wife. I have no idea what the point of all of that was. What was the goal there? I specifically don't understand why anyone who was pregnant with a child would be willing to not only kill herself but that 5 month old child because of people saying mean things in the tabloids - that you can choose to not read.
Offer anyone on here millions of dollars, beautiful places to live, servants, etc. with the catch being that every day people will write really mean things about you in the tabloids. Why would that be terrible?
The disconnect from reality for these two is mental illness level.
She is a liar plain and simple, said she never looked up Harry on the internet? Absolute crap, hey Meghan, you're out the spotlight now,how about a blind date with a prince? Ok yeah and she never bothered looking him up,once a liar always a liar.
I do not understand this mentality, I guess.
Why should they have to 'turn the page' and ignore what's being said about them? If there are large groups of people who have tarnished their name, why do they have to suck it up and take it? I absolutely wouldn't. I understand the desire to tell your side of the story, your 'truth' so to speak. This whole idea of 'respecting the crown' by shutting up seems very weak to me.
I don't think you paid attention to what she said. She explains all of this. Coming from a mother with mental illness myself who was also suicidal (also while pregnant)/severe post partum depression, you should understand that, for whatever reason, one's mental health gets SO BAD that even with the love they have for their child, they see no end but to end it.
It isn't out of selfishness.
Or attention seekers say they thought about ending it just to play the victim card yet again.

I don't understand -- AT ALL -- the mindset of wanting privileges without paying the price. It's ultimate entitlement and completely expected when Hollywood meets Buckingham Palace.

Empty??? If you think I read tabloids or even news articles about the royals, you misunderstand. But the Nightly News stories - yes, I am an old guy who looks for news the old-fashioned way - make news of Harry and Meghan unavoidable. Especially with Oprah's interview approaching. My vague impressions of their leaving the UK were not sympathetic. But they were based on that limited info from said TV news shows. Since their story, like that of Harry's mother, has become a major sideshow, followed by hundreds of millions, or more, I, as a career history teacher, wanted to form my own opinion, without the filter of others. I came away very sympathetic to them. I will spare the specifics, but I don't see how anyone who watched - especially if they hate racism and if reflected on what led to the death of Harry's mother - would reach any other conclusion.
