I'd put Grant at 12:55 in Europe this year if he got in the race. But odds are he won't. Jerry will shut him down until the Trials and then skip the Diamond League until the Olympics.
In a normal DL? Or a time trial?
Do you guys know what the weather is normally like in the average DL meet? Noting close to what you had last night. Cheptegei ran 12:35 in 79 degree temps with a dew point of 69. If Cheptegei had run his race with same temps as Grant and with wavelight starting at a slight negative split, he'd break 12:30.
How often is your DL meet run in a temp of the 50s? Hardly ever.
Look at Mo Ahmed. He ran 12:47 in Bowerman time trial and 12:58 in Europe.

The Americans are running great, but the questions is: are they closing the gap to the East Africans or is everyone running faster due to better shoes (both track and road)????
See above. He's officially 27 seconds behind Cheptegei (I'd argue Cheptegei's WR should be considered to be the equivalent of 12:30 so I'd say 32 seconds) and 15 seconds behind Ahmed - his own teammate who has world bronze.
