Statistics SCARY ??
I went to a BLM protest and it was boring as hell.
Cops need to learn how to handle protests - shooting tear gas and marching in sets it off. Just stand by and let them chant themselves out

you literally just posted support for the state to exert more power and authority and kill more people.......
Cops shoot over 1,000 Americans to death each year.
Less than 50 American cops are shot to death each year -- just above 40.
A 25 to 1 ratio.
These are numbers.
Why do I have a feeling I will be attacked for posting them?

It's almost like there are less cops than there are citizens. Like...a lot less.
The only things governments have ever done truly well are kill people and take their money.

Too bad the people who need to read this are too stupid to understand anything you're saying.

Except they have not been convicted of anything yet so they are not yet "criminals". Nice that you are okay with the killing of people doing largely non-violent things like selling cigarettes.

How many of the 1000 Americans were unarmed, non- violent, not resisting arrest, not in the process of hurting others? How many of them would have been shot had that followed the commands of the police?

stats fail
During the summer the local BLM tried to stir up trouble in my town. Nobody took the bait and after a few weeks they stopped and went away

why are American cops so much worse at arresting people without killing them than the rest of the 1st world?
I don't think 'not following commands' is a catch-all excuse for a government killing it's citizens.

And I guess you think an appropriate response to man having a medical emergency is to place him face first on the ground with a knee on his neck.
...says the guy who just completely embarrassed himself trying to use math a few posts ago ..lol

Yea. But they sure manage to kill a lot of people for such a small group.
It doesn't surprise me at all that police killings of civilians have decreased in cities where BLM was and is prominent. It's important to note that police killings of unarmed black men have always been fairly low--15 or 16 in 2020. I've carefully monitored the research. Police killings of ARMED black men, on the other hand, tend to dominate numerically within the category "police killings of civilians," simply because police tend to more heavily patrol places where more violent crime is taking place, and because violent crime--black-on-black crime is particularly bad in precisely those urban zones where BLM has staked its claim.
Police killings of civilians has almost certainly declined because of the so-called Ferguson effect, which is to say, police have pulled back. They're not patrolling proactively. In the current atmosphere, they have nothing to gain by patrolling aggressively.
The result has been a huge spike in crime in those BLM urban zones. It's not quite as bad as the late 1980s and early 90s, but it's close.
Here's a good database. Turns out that 17 unarmed black men were killed by the police in 2020. More than 200 armed black men were killed by cops in 2020.
By comparison, in 2020: about 22 unarmed white men and 400 armed white men were killed by the cops in 2020.
Be very wary of people who argue from "statistical disparities" about such things. They're generally not statisticians and they're not controlling for important variables.

Less than 30 unarmed black people were killed by the police last year. The number is debated ranging from around 10 to the mid 20s and the dispute is over individuals who may have died to other factors such as heart attack or OD while being aphrehended. So unarmed killings of unarmed black Americans is not the widespread problem the media would want to make you believe. If we're going to say fewer people were killed by the police I'd chalk it up to less police or a decrease caused by the pandemic.
