Yikes.
A win is a win is a win.
Looking onto her next event.
That’s pretty bad logic, so if she won a local 5K in 17 min would you still say the same thing?

Explaining why this guy's threads are eminently worth disregarding. He's the Michael Scott of running performance analysis. Or maybe the Dwight Shrute.
I'm still rooting for her. Anyone know the conditions there? Flat course? Weather/humidity?
you are kidding right?? 5:39 pace for a runner of this caliber is terrible over 13 miles.

She ran some race no one has ever heard of, maybe she wasn't going for time, maybe she just ran relaxed, maybe it was for fun, she has had a few bad races, If this was RAK or some big deal race, Then maybe the worrying would be justified, lots of top runners in the 70's and 80's used to race most weeks, Craig Virgin, Bill Rodgers etc run 29 or even slower 10k's, then they raced for real in the big ones.
It's 2021 and you can stay home and just time trial with your Garmin. Traveling all the way to Texas to mess around instead of putting in a race effort makes absolutely zero sense. Stick a fork in her, fanboiz.

She is way too skinny and shouldn’t be running. Your body can’t handle the rigors of intense marathon training and when you have an eating issue but if you say that on this site, you get torn apart for stating the obvious. I dated a girl on my XC team in HS who looked healthier than Hasay and her doctors wouldn’t let her run until she gained more weight
Just to be clear, I don’t care if she continues to run or not. Her health is her own decision. But I guarantee you she won’t run anything respectable until she puts on some fat. Nike should drop her as soon as they can though
While I don't think she is finished, and that she certainly has the ability to get back to her peak form...this race had to be disappointing. She didn't need to run a 1:07, but certainly something in the 1:09/1:10 range had to be the goal.
It sounds like some of her training times were strong...does she just have issues on race day?? I haven't followed her career close enough to know if this was an issue in the past, but there have been so many races lately where the results were significantly below her stated expectations .
Hopefully she is able to get back into form.
Hopefully Alberto gets reinstated so he can help Jordan become great again.

It is true that those guys back then raced a lot. Hasay, however, doesn't. Neither do her peers. You'd have a point if this was one of 5 races so far this year and one of them was great. Then, she'd be just like Rodgers. Win the big ones, use 80% of them as workouts. This, just like many posters have commented, was not spectacular or even acceptable if the tempo story, even on a treadmill, was true.
For the most part flat. Slight rises in the roads. 52 degrees at the start with light winds.
She needs to stop lifting weights.
