Who SHOULD make it and who WILL make it have different answers.
As I understand it, the NCAA selection committee is putting the most weight against the conference championship race.
In the case of Syracuse that is kind of vague given that they came in 6th in the ACC Championship which was held six months ago and their team looks much more competitive now.
Georgetown and Villanova are on the bubble. They finished a close #2 and #3 in the Big East yesterday but rank #1 and #2 in the Mid-Atlantic Region. Their times were competitive with the top three teams in the ACC on the same Cary NC course. I don't see the selection committee totaling overlooking any region which in pre-covid days would have had two qualifying teams.
