I thought I read it somewhere and when I went looking for the source 5 minutes again I saw nothing saying the number of teams changed. So, now I feel like an idiot, but hey, now I gave everyone here some more material to make fun of people. That's what makes these forums fun right?

Alabama/NC State/Ga Tech/Arkansas assumes Gitari is running for Al, no Clairmonte for NC State, Arkansas impacted by Indoor focus

BYU/Colorado/NAU/Michigan State assumes no Orton (BYU w Orton likely favorite)

Anyone that is holding onto the rankings as fact. Look at the results from last year. The heart of the meet 15-19 is all teams who were unranked. We need to stop putting stock into teams who are historically good and start looking at facts. Michigan, Syracuse, Oregon knew the rules and they messed up. Doesn’t mean they won’t be there next year but this year they did not earn it. They are trying to snake their way in based off of clout. I say end this. Coaches make these polls for their own selfish reasons. I beg the selection committee to not follow this same trend. BE THE DIFFERENCE. Change the sport.

You re completely wrong about Michigan. They were shut down due to Covid. They got an exemption to race here They would have preferred to take a bus to Indiana to race a month ago. List your 31 teams if you think Michigan and Syracuse are out.

Which runner on the team are you for the Michy Gan? My list is pretty much the same as RankingMcGee except I don’t think your school should go and Georgetown should.

Best list I've seen. The criteria for selection should not be based on who has historically been a strong program, who has a "good" roster, who has posted some good times in indoor 3k, etc. It should be based on your body of work in THIS XC season with the most weight given to performance in your Conference championship. Syracuse, Florida St, Michigan, and Oregon may be able to beat a lower tier Conference champ like UMass or Furman, but that doesn't mean they are more deserving of a spot.

Sorry Syracuse and FSU, when you finish 6th and 9th in the ACC Championship and the rest of the body of your work is mediocre at best, then you crapped the bed and don't deserve a berth, particularly over all of the 2nd and 3rd place teams on this list.

Sorry Michigan you chose not to run in the Conference Championship while the rest of the Big10 did. That choice has consequences. Your body of work consists of one meet getting stomped by a mediocre Syracuse team. Don't care about who you have on you roster or your ranking in the coaches poll, Michigan doesn't deserve it either.

Sorry Oregon you are clearly focused on Indoor...which is absolutely the right call as you have a very high chance of taking home the title, and zero chance of taking home the XC title. Running your "B" team and finishing 4th in the PAC has consequences. You too don't deserve a spot over the lower tier Conference Champs or the 2nd and 3rd place teams on this list.

Furman who refused to run any xc meets besides their conference one despite having multiple opportunities to run in fast races should be nowhere near this championship.

If you want to make NCAA xc maybe don't time trial 5ks all season

If conference is the most important and many teams only ran conference. Why are you getting your panties in a bunch over a good Furman team?

Furman should not make ncaa XC. They talk a big game on social media about their supposed great track times. Let them run track. They ran from the competition in XC with the chance to truly show who they are in 2 meets within driving distance. They hid and that should have consequences. They only ran their crap conference meet. The fact is that a 50th ranked team could dominate yet they take so much pride in stealing the kindergartners lunch money. Congrats in beating up the little kids, Furman!

Wish the Arkansas Men's and Women's teams were actually going to do XC nationals this year. Women's team going all in for Indoors since its at home, and they won XC last year.
