I’m surprised Tulsa is only ranked fifth. The basically tied OK state just recently and OK state had a tiebreak with Arkansas last fall in some race. I think NAU and BYU are clear cut for 1 and 2 but 3-5 or 6 is up for grabs really

Well this kinda ruins the fun.
The polls are not the committee. I have a hard time seeing Oregon selected. Same with Texas.
The softos over at Syracuse would get clapped by the UMass Lowell Men head-to-head.
Personally, I would love to see Charlotte, Butler, Utah State, Wake Forest, Umass Lowell, and Air Force get in- most of those teams aren't always at the championships and only Utah State went in 2019. I don't think Texas, Ole Miss, or Oregon should get in because those teams are clearly all focusing on indoors.
Assuming the selection committee puts the most weight on conference championships, the top 14 teams on this list won their respective conference and were ranked or received votes in the most recent national poll. Fill in the list from the same poll and here's what you get.
By this approach, your first teams out are Texas, Georgetown and Villanova with a shot to get in if they can replace one of the first 31 teams on the list.
School- Rank in National Poll – Conference Championship Placing
1. Notre Dame-9- ACC (1)
2. Oklahoma State- 6 - BIG12 (1)
3. Wisconsin-11- BIG10 (1)
4. Stanford- 4 -PAC12 (1)
5. Arkansas-3- SEC (1)
6. Tulsa – 5 – American (1)
7. Butler- 22- BIGEast (1)
8. Southern Utah- 26- Big Sky(1)
9. UMass Lowell-RV- America East (1)
10. Charolette-30- Conference USA(1)
11. Iona-12- Metro Atlantic(1)
12. Air Force-19- Mountain West (1)
13. Furman -RV- Southern Conference (1)
14. BYU-1- WCC (1)
15. NAU -2 -Big Sky (2)
16. Iowa state-7 BIG12(2)
17. Colorado -8 PAC12 (2)
18. Washington- 10- PAC12 (3)
19. NC State-13- ACC(2)
20. Gonzaga-14- WCC(2)
21. Ole miss- 15 -SEC (2)
22. Oregon- 16 -PAC12 (4)
23. Indiana- 17- BIG10 (2)
24. Portland -18- WCC (3)
25. Wake forest- 20- ACC (3)
26. Utah state- 21- Mountain West (2)
27. Virginia-23 -ACC (4)
28. Purdue- 24 -BIG10 (3)
29. Syracuse- 25 -ACC (6)
30. Michigan- 27- BIG10 (DNS)
31. Michigan state- 28 BIG10(4)
32. Texas- 29 -BIG12 (3)
33. Georgetown-RV- BIGEast (2)
34. Villanova- RV- BIGEast (3)
35. Duke-RV-ACC (5)

I agree. I’m just saying it kinda ruins a lot of the fun.
Take Oregon, Texas, Syracuse, Michigan out. Put in some of those teams out looking in and I think this is very solid list given the criteria.
I'm find with RankingsMcGree's list. Looks pretty good to me for the men. Anyone want to do it for the women?
Wow, RankingsMcGee saw all this bickering, put his head down and made a great list. That’s an awesome National meet right there.
The bubble team are great also.
Interested to see what happens to teams that sucked at their conference meets (Syracuse, Oregon) and Michigan who will only make it in off of clout which seems a bit unfair.
Michigan has 7 guys at 8:06 or better in the 3k this indoor season and 2 sub 8. They have been ranked top 20 all year. Michigan didn't lose the race yesterday. Syracuse won the race. They both deserve to go. How many teams with 7 guys at 8:06 or better will not make the meet?
They are in based off this ranking... BUT getting smoked by the 6th best team in the ACC isn’t a great look.
Last I checked this isn’t indoor track. Sub 8:06 is great but nationals is a 10k and in a week. How much better can that team get at cross in a week??
Want to bet that they finish top 25 next week? Want to bet that Syracuse does not finish last either?
Want to bet that doesn’t matter? It is your body of work, not because you want to bet. Also, UMass should NOT make it in. They’ve done nothing.
Fwiw, I think Syracuse and Michigan will get in but your logic sucks.
I think they probably will. I just don’t think they are the most deserving of a spot cause they ran fast on the track. Michigan is one of the best programs ever they have a good team and good coach.
If they were so good why didn’t they show up yesterday?
They knew it mattered and then got smoked.
I agree with the list they will be probably get in but if I was a bubble team that had a respectable cross season I’d be pissed.
It will be interesting to see if some of the teams who were focusing on indoor track and field even declare for the NCAA cross country meet. Will we get to see that information?
Just a reminder to folks only 20 teams make it in this year. With the emphasis put on the conference meet I think these are the 20.
1) BYU
2) NAU
3) Stanford
4) Oklahoma State
5) Arkansas
6) Notre Dame
7) Tulsa
8) Wisconsin
9) Iowa State
10) Colorado
11) Washington
12) Butler
13) Air Force
14) Southern Utah (assuming they get rewarded for beating NAU at conference)
15) Ole Miss
16) NC State
17) Iona
18) Furman
Then, 2 spots up for grabs. I think it is
19) Utah State (barely lost to Air Force at the Mtn West, beat Wake Forest - another bubble team)
20) Gonzaga (beat Portland at the WCC in their only race)
First 4 Out (May get in if Arkansas, Ole Miss focus on indoors only)
21) Georgetown (Mid-Atlantic top team if committee cares about that, but still a good win over Nova and ran competitively compared to ACC teams at Wake Med)
22) Wake Forest (missing Facioni at ACCs - might get rewarded but behind Utah State in line)
23) Portland
24) Villanova (close loss to Gtown but this spot may be Virginia or Charlotte)
But for those of you arguing Syracuse there is no way. They were 6th at ACCs, the committee will not ignore all their bad races. For those of you saying Lowell. You can not get in losing to UConn. Gtown and Nova are ahead of them in line by a wide margin. For those of you saying Oregon, you can not get in because of your hypothetical roster. Sure, they will race those guys if they get in but they haven't all season so the committee can't choose them in a 20 team field.
It’s not 20 teams it’s 31. So keep your list going.
