OK I admit I am left of center politically and therefore am a bit biased in favor of someone like Al Franken or Andrew Cuomo BUT why should Franken have resigned and why should Cuomo resign? What did Cuomo do that was so awful? It seems to me the worst thing he has done is maybe he is being a bit deceptive about being a bit creepy around younger women. Is this really so bad? Maybe I am wrong but one gets to the point where one is labeled something and there are no gradations of transgressions. Certainly it seems Bill Clinton, JFK and the like could never have survived in office today.
It's amazing the double standard you can apply when it's someone on your side of the aisle. I'm sure you were rushing to say lets wait and see the facts during the Kavanaugh hearings.
As far as Franken I thought that one was overdone at the time and I think most reasonable people don't think he should have had to resign.
Cuomo is completely different, is being accused of making unwanted advances on women who he had power over in the workplace as given his position. This includes kissing a woman who did not want to be kissed. There are likely more that either will continue to come out, or are afraid to come out given we had the one in the fall, and now there are several. Especially given Cuomo's vocal me 2 support in the past.
The truth is the Democrats are now rallying behind this for a clear political motive. They could care less about the me 2 aspect. Cuomo's nursing home debacle has become a major political liability given they held him up as captain covid for the past year. If he goes down for that it will start turning attention to other awful Democratic governors in states that have been celebrated such as New Jersey, Michigan, or Pennsylvania that made similar mistakes. This is all about damage control and the allegations have been the perfect distraction from Cuomo's disastrous COVID policy.
