More interested in that zoom x version of the Streak.
The Next% 2 has been known about for at least a couple months. No real big changes - just tinkering with the upper...based on the pics I think I like the current version better.
I knid of just want to get these beasts to see what they're like. The heel is SO RIDICULOUS! Walking on a cloud would be nice though, all of the squishy foam.
Does anyone use these for walking or do you think that they're really designed for the mechanics of running?
The "pockets of padding at the top of the tongue help provide a more comfortable fit and reduce lace pressure" is a positive improvement.
I experience pretty intense lace pressure at the top lace-hole from lock-laces in my NEXT% v1s
Can anyone distill every Nike supershoe since Rupp wore one in the 2016 trials?
I lost the train on these long ago.

Yes, they're designed for running they feel ridiculously unstable when walking around or slowly jogging. Once you get running quick (sub 6 pace) in them they start to feel incredible

Sure it isn't too complicated
Nike 4%
Nike 4% Flyknit (Upper change only)
Nike Next%
Nike Alphafly Next% (Considered by many to be only a side release and different shoe rather than a direct improvement on the Next%)
Nike Next%2
Vaporfly elite (monza), vaporfly 4%, flyprint vaporfly elite (london), flyknit vaporfly 4%, next%, alphafly, next% v2

and you still missed one.
Nike Zoom Tempo NEXT (the other one like the AlphaFlys that has the pods in it, but is a bit more cruddy)

Correct answer. I’d also put Mayfly prior to VF Elite to be succinct.
(Rupp’s shoe at trials/Rio.)

2015: Prototype Vaporfly (Streak LT2 upper)
2016 Prototype Vaporfly (updated midsole, Mayfly upper)
2017: Vaporfly Elite Flyknit, Vaporfly 4%
2018: Vaporfly Elite Flyprint (3D printed upper), Vaporfly 4% Flyknit
2019: Vaporfly Next%, multiple alleged prototype 5%'s spotted in pro races
2020: Alphafly Next%, Air Zoom Victory, ZoomX Dragonfly
2021: Vaporfly Next% 2, Streakfly

Also in 2016 for the Rio 10k rupp wore prototype zoomx dragonflys that had a Matumbo upper and spike plate but with more stack height and presumably zoomx foam. I noticed this looking at a photo from that race on instagram.

Yes, the shoe that they no doubt could have easily come out with years ago. And yet didn't. Strange, at least to a consumer. But hey, at least there's the Peg Turbo. Oh, right........
I had a crazy thought that other day on a run about Nike's running shoes. There are no doubt a lot of money and marketing calculations that go into what a company does and doesn't do with respect to new and old products. "Games," a consumer might call them. Wouldn't it be cool if Nike, acknowledging that they were founded on running - and that none of their executives will fail to be able to buy their new Ferrari next year regardless of EXACTLY how they market their RUNNING shoes - actually made kinda-sorta "runner-centric" decisions on at least some of their "serious running shoes"?
That was a long and perhaps bad sentence. Maybe better with an example: "Hey the marketing guys and/or bean counters are telling us that we're not optimizing revenue (and/or whatever other metrics) by still having a Peg Turbo. But....we don't have a replacement. Crazy idea: Our serious runner customers love it and will continue to buy it (and it ain't cheap). Until we have a clear replacement, why don't we keep it around? Will this MASSIVE company still be OK if we do that with ONE of our products? Yes? OK, then let's FREAKIN' do that." (!!!!!!!!!)
Example 2: Name your favorite Nike running shoe that appeared to have a good following.
And yes, I know that this also applies to most/all other running shoe companies. But perhaps Nike is the worst about it? Not sure.
Anyway, STILL annoying that a Zoom X Streak is about a half-decade overdue !
Do you know when the Streakfly will be announced?
Thank you I had the same question pretty much. I have tried the Vaporfly original version and the flyknit, and personally liked the original much better. I have the next% brand new, but haven't had an occasion to wear them yet. The Tempo Next % I enjoy a lot for tempo runs. But yeah losing track of the alphafly, next% 2 etc.

Since -before- the trials, Rupp qualified for the 2016 trials in 2015 using super-shoes
And rolows has got you covered though he really needs to update this chart through 2021

You've run/raced extensively in VF lineup? My local running shop was out of next% &Saucony Endorphin pro only had Brooks HyperionElite2. I tried on HE2 and immediately noticed the downhill running effect. Anyone have a comparison of Supershoes across brands?

It was announced in the fall of 2019.
