Maybe but indoors is often faster. She is clearly improving so she might run 1:56xx this year.
Isn't her 400m PR 50.5?
Thinking she might attack about 1:56.8 with some competition.

name one pro with an indoor 800 record faster than their outdoor 800 before two weeks ago

That’s what I’m thinking...
From what I can tell tho 800U is understandably on the lower mileage end of the spectrum which may be sacrificing some economy.
From my very limited knowledge (so correct me if I’m wrong) the lack of testosterone hurts female anaerobic economy too, so the pace drop off from 400-800 is usually a bit bigger too.

I am telling you she is NOT going to run sub 1:55 this year. Surely you cannot be this stupid.
Slow down Jim Bob, obviously a mega talent. But let's remember you have to rounds, probably three. Then throw in tactics and running vs pro's. I hope she does run really fast but let's remember only a teenager.
Here is the final lap.

Man I wish i was commentating instead of them. Show some excitement. I would have been like Dick Vitale over the last 200.

Agreed. Dwight Stones went nuts when Donavan Brazier broke the outdoor CR. Why the hell is he not showing that same energy on Mu’s race?

Come on... Dwight Stones is Mr Excitement!! LOL. They needed the kid who commentated Alan Webb’s American record in 2007

ROJO, can you PLEASE try to get someone with passion and knowledge on these calls. I will type out page upon page of notes for these people.

The second place girl in this race, Gabby Wilkinson, was the girl who beat Tuohy in the HS Milrose Mile. Gabby, Athing and Ajee Wilson all ran in the same youth track league in Philly; UAGTCA.

According to Rojo that’s a 1:56 in super spikes.

Deadass???? Give her some Nike wonder shoes and she can go sub 1:56 outdoors no problem.
Athing Mu + Nike Air Zoom Victory Spikes + Monaco Track = 1:55 according to Rojo (lowkey he's not even wrong, she can run 1:56 with that 50point 400 speed)
Athing Mu is another in the long line of talented NJ athletes

Old is relative. She wore the nike zoom 400s which are made specifically for 400/800 type races. They came out in the last few years and are still nike's only model made specifically for 400-800. No super spike technologies here, just a stiff rigid spike made for aggressive paces. Interestingly Donovan Brazier has worn the super spikes but chose to wear regular sprint spikes for his most recent american record.
She is #2 all time indoor 600m from 2 years ago as a high school Junior at 1:23.57 which is insane still to me. That is arguably still a better performance. Not shocked at all to see this 800m time. We knew she was capable.
Great time. Pretty similar race to Ajee Wilson's last night at Miles of Trials. Both went through in 57ish. Mu held on a little better but Wilson had to deal with some wind & it was just an early season race for her.
Would be fun to see them clash at the Trials.
