Again, great example of everything wrong with the sport. Rather do high intensity workouts than winning conference?
If this was basketball they just got bounced from the tournament. Football they just got dropped from the playoffs.
If I was the AD I would not be happy.
They wouldn't be out of the NCAA tournament in basketball. If Gonzaga loses conference tournament, they are still going to the tournament.
If a team does not get selected for the NCAA Championships this year then they did not do what they needed to do in order to get in! SUU did not cause them to not get in, another team that was selected ahead of them did. SUU did what they needed to do and so did many other teams. If your team is the first one left out then your blame should be on yourselves because you were not better than the last team in.

That’s true but they wouldn’t be a 1 seed.

SUU got 9th place at the FSU invitational. If I’m Utah State, Syracuse, Duke, FSU, or Clemson and I don’t get in, I’m seeing a hitman after Mike Smith. You can say that SUU did what they needed to, but that’s frankly bullsh!t. They’ve been incredibly average this year, the only thing of note they’ve done is win a weak conference with the only powerhouse team in it not running 4 guys that would’ve scored.
Is SUU just peaking at the right time? The FSU meet was a while ago. Hasty of NAU beat everyone on SUU at the Battle Born, but 3 of them beat him this week. Their whole team improved by about 30 seconds relative to him and Cade Burks for that matter vs Battle Born.
Says who? Teams get the number 1 seed all the time after losing their conference tournament. You sound incredibly bitter

Obviously SUU will get in as they won conference. But the point still stands that the entire season goes into selecting the 30 teams this year. Conference isn’t a replacement for regionals. If you wanna kick out someone like Michigan State, I think that’s fine. My worry is that you’ve got teams like Utah State, Colorado State, and Air Force. All of them have run very consistently strong the entire season, but they obviously all can’t win the conference meet. It will just rub me the wrong way if they all finish top 3 in the MW but don’t get into the meet.

If Gonzaga lost their conference tournament there is no way in hell they are still a one seed. I suggest you look and see who’s in their conference. If Michigan lost to Ohio State, then obviously nothing would change.
Another terrible post. Gonzaga is undefeated and beat 4 top 15 teams already this year. They could lose their conference tournament by 30 and still get a #1 seed. Log off.

Why are you talking about college basketball on this thread.? You’re still wrong. If you’d like to make another thread I would be more than happy to talk college balm with you as it is one of my biggest passions.
Who would be the four number 1 seeds then? You are crazy to think 2 or 3 Big 10 teams would be number 1 seeds when the best team in the country would be a 2.
I literally responded to your post about college basketball. Nice job deflecting now that you realized you are dead wrong
Nice work by Duncan Hamilton recently. Great mile 2 weeks ago (now #3 all time at MSU behind Pat Casey and Christian Soratos) and then a couple steps from picking off NAU’s #1 in cross. Look out this year in the steeple...
looking at NAU's conference lineup, looks like this is what happened:
This team is loaded with uber-talented underclassmen, so Smith wanted to give his 2 seniors a chance to run on the conference team. I'm sure he also wanted to get another look at the trio of Raff, Bosely, and Hasty since they've all been a bit up and down over the last few months and he's trying to figure out the back end of his NCAA lineup.
There are also good compelling reasons to rest Grijalva, Young and Ferro.
Grijalva has been a bit banged up
Young is a true frosh who ran both Vegas meets
Ferro is notoriously injury prone
I think if it where me I would have rested Young at the 2nd Vegas meet and had him run here instead. That's a bit of a nitpick though. They still put out a strong lineup, but aside from Nur and Raff they just didn't perform well.
It’s simple they thought they would win easy with their team b team. Their b team ran mediocre and SU ran very well. It’s sports and it happens. But the reality is that it doesn’t really matter. All that matters to them is winning a 10k National championship. That last 2k is as Smith puts it their office where they get to work.

I was responding to someone else’s post.

If Gonzaga lost the conference title to someone like BYU, the reaction would be so intense that they would get moved down. I’m not saying they should, but they would. The 4 1 seeds would be: Baylor, Michigan, Phio State, and Villanova/Illinois
