Should other non-revenue Olympic sports require the same?
Should other non-revenue Olympic sports require the same?
It's amazing that any male adult continues to go into coaching kids. In fact it would be wise to run away as soon as you see a woman or a child in today's world.
Meanwhile those same little girls are forced to share changing rooms with men who identify as women and 'think of the children' suddenly gets thrown out the window in the name of social justice.
I've done background checks for both USATF and USA Weightlifting. I assume most if not all of the Olympic sports organizations require one now. The USA Gymnastics scandal impacted everything.
Every school district requires this for anyone who interacts with children. Churches with volunteer activities involving children require this, and they've done so for at least 15 years. When I was in high school I volunteered by tutoring elementary-school-aged city kids and I had to have a background check before I started doing that.
1. It's not a big deal at all.
2. This is the case for any organization that deals with children.
3. It's been very standard practice for a long time.

No, what's amazing is how many male adults have and continue to, abuse, molest, rape, defile, injure, attack, and mistreat women and children.

What is the point of this thread? I'm sure that every organization that deals with children and has insurance has already done background checks for a long time. There isn't any relationship to revenue or Olympics that is considered.
That's a good thing. This protection prevents repeat offenders.
Obviously doing background checks alone is not a flawless protection without additional vigilance. I would guess that everyone who becomes a Catholic priest would pass a background check with flying colors.

???
Usatf does. I assume most or all others do.
Did you literally think wrestling was the only one? Lol
Any background check on ex-wrestling coach and Congressman Gym Jordan ?!?
It's amazing that you are opposed to people trying to stop rape and molestation. And it's also amazing how much of that post was incorrect and pulled right out of your bum (100% in fact). And making children change in front of adults is always creepy, you don't need to throw your inaccurate transphobia in the mix.
You sound like the kind of person that says their opinion is being censored yet still ends up sharing their opinion the most.

So what exactly is the problem OP?

This is not just with male coaches...
It's pretty common wrote:

Example of why we need a background check clearinghouse under USOPC or something else. Everything is requiring a background check now, so get an 'approved list' of BC companies under one umbrella. I'm getting tired of paying for multiple background checks a year, every year.
The Lincoln Project and other Democrat groups need to start doing it. Of course, harder to weed out when it’s the top leaders who are the perverts.
Should be done in the Boy Scouts also. 20 years ago gay groups were screaming for the inclusion of gay scoutmasters and now the Boy Scouts are involved in a massive scandal with thousands of boys who have been molested by scoutmasters. Sickening pedephiles.

You're conflating gay people with pedophiles.
Don't do that.
Simply stating the facts...Sorry if you can't accept reality.
I believe most (all?) sports do that.
I have to do a once a year check for Usa triathlon. It's super easy. Seems like the absolute minimum to help keep athletes safe.
Being an athlete on a national team is a precarious situation.

Don't do that.
A male who sexually molests other males is gay. Not every gay is a pedophile, but every dude who forcefully touches penises is gay.
Not all priests are gay but the priests who molested thousands of little boys are all gay.

Incorrect. Not all wrestlers are gay. All wrestlers forcefully touch penises. It’s unavoidable.
