I don’t like him, but Ryan Hall probably has to be included for his half-marathon
You have never heard of Joan Benoit Samuelson or Mark Plaatjes or Steve Spence...I could go on.

Add them to the list. I should’ve also added events and medals.
Also:
Dathan Ritzenhein World 1/2Thon Bronze
Alberto Salazar World XC Silver
Johnny Gray 800m Bronze 1992 Olympics
David Krummenacker 800m Gold World Indoors
Pretty early, but I’ve gotta say Donovan Brazier need to be up there.
Will you allow drug cheats in your HoF?
Steve Prefontaine
Frank Shorter
Bill Rodgers
Dave wottle
Jerry Lindgren
Emma coburn
Donavan brazier
Nick symmonds
You kinda forgot Joan Benoit in that first list.

Who gives a f***?
I guarantee eventually in the future supplements will no longer be tested for. Athletics is entertainment. People want quality competitions. The only rules people are concerned with are the ones during the competition. Nobody cares what happens outside of race day.
Are you excluding Rodgers/Shorter/JoanB/Meb because they're already on Mt. Rushmore?
Off the top of my head those who have been missed so far (at least I think they were missed):
Mark Croghan
Henry Marsh
Deena Kastor
Mark Nenow
Bill Dellinger
Bob Schul
Rick Wohlhuter
Galen Rupp
Chris Solinsky
Craig Virgin
Molly Huddle
Elle Purrier
Bob Freakin' Kennedy
Garry Bjorklund

Rupp is in the OP’s post. You have no clue. You really think that Elle Purrier is in and Curt Schilling shouldn’t be? Just clueless.
HOFs should be about the truly great, not the very good.
That philosophy would eliminate about 85-90% of the names mentioned.
Well it's obvious most of you are 25-30 years old and believe Bonds and Sosa should be in the MLB Hall Of Fame.

I see that Rupp was mentioned. Yes, Elle Purrier holds two American records. Curt Schilling was never even the best pitcher in his league (let alone the ENTIRE Major Leagues) in any one season. 216 wins with that ho-hum ERA and never winning a Cy Young Award keeps him out.
Qualifications for US Distance Hall of Fame
American
Distance runner or coach
(Wasn’t sure if it should be 800 or 1500 distance minimum)
International medalist(tier 1)
American record holder
International team qualifier
What else???
Lynn Jennings
Billy Mills
Lagat
Meb
Pat Porter
lightbody
Spivey
Realistically pretty much anyone with a WR or an olympic/WC medal will probably make cut. Probably most AR holders also
The tougher guys are like Solinsky (i.e. really good for a short period of time, not many national titles) or a Todd Williams (dominated the US for a decade but no AR/medals).
If you were electing like 1 guy/year since say 1950, you are looking at 70 names. We would need to drop the standards a bit to fill up the hall.

Retired.
Saying Elle Purrier should be in the hall of fame at this point is pretty nutty.
A lot of people, primarily the OP, are not delving into history nearly enough.
Um...ever heard of Clarence DeMar??
