So, I have a track meet on Saturday, and I am confident I have the ability to run a 4:25 mile. Coach wants me to pace at 68,68,65,64 for the 4 laps. The only issue is that I don’t think I will have the speed to do 64. I am more of a long, very long distance runner and don’t really have the speed to run that fast. Should I compensate and go out in 67s instead or stick with my coaches plan?

I don’t have the speed to run 64 after running three 400s at a fast pace before.

If you can't run 64 you can't run 4:25.
