Maybe I'm wrong, but the acclaim, and possibilities that Hasty came from Brentwood High with were suggesting that he could be one of the best.
But with a former personal best of 24:04 at 8k, this result, while extremely good at 41 seconds faster, is the #5 time across the NAU team.
I guess, drawing from Puskedra and Oregon, where Puskedra had to try harder than most who were at the level he went in with to Oregon to even find a professional sponsor after graduating, do you think the training on the team that would have originally put Hasty toward the top would be used for the quicker ones for a guaranteed top result?
In other words, since ordinals matter in XC scoring, if Hasty is the accepted #5 of 5, will the coach go the extra mile to help Hasty move up, or will he be more comfortable keeping him a solid 5, even if it may mean no professional future for Hasty?
