Not to mention Kelsey chmiel! What happened to starliper?

I don't doubt your conversion, but is it based upon comparing other results? Published studies?
Mondo designs their banked tracks to (supposedly) optimally counteract centrifugal force, which is why I think we see some runners run faster times on them Indoor versus there Outdoor times.
I'm not sure if the NCAA has changed things since I stopped caoching but here in an explanation of how they looked at the times everyone ran on various surfaces. The official 3k conversion in 2012 was .9915 which looks like a 9:14.91.
https://www.ncaa.org/sites/default/files/NCAA+Indoor+Track+Facility+Indexing+Conversion+Summary.pdfOk, we've got a baseline. 325 and 920 is a quite useful start. On pace right with Steelmann for 905-910 thru 1600m/2k then faded. Now keep working for acc and xc nats.
I'm hoping that Clairmonte and Howlett are both just focused on xc and are not hurt.
Henes does not have xc eligibility, which is too bad as she is having her best season.
PRs for both Steelman 3k and Chmiel 5k!
Do not really think we will see Starliper for xc. Even rojo's interview last fall with coach Henes mentioned she will not be ready for xc. Question now is if she will have outdoor, or a full year off.

Schneider made that look SO easy. Setting herself up for a nice payday if she also wins the mile.
Schneider's 8:57 3000m is worth a 4:31 mile, per the Jack Daniels' calculator. 40 minutes after that 3000m, Rachel runs a 4:31 mile. Conclusion: Jack Daniels BOOM!
Yep. Katelyn was coming off an injury that kept her from running since March, 2020. The key takeaway for me is that her coaches have determined that she is now healthy enough to return to competition, and the seed time gave a good indication that they were expecting something in this range. The coaches are clearly being cautious with her and Starliper. Now Katelyn just has to build up her fitness again and leave the injury issue in the rear view mirror.
Thanks!

Has she added any new strength modalities to her pre-hab, like slant-board squats, or banded walking?
Wonder if Katelyn has gotten bad advice about having to stop training? Instead of just training in different ways if you have knee pain or mild injury?
Such as focusing much more on Nautilus training, core work, other types of movements. I have heard her mention that she had to sit on the couch or just sit around on a couple of occasions.
Anyway could be reading too much into that, but from what I saw her she could definitely use a lot of muscular development in the legs. She didn't look overly muscular at all. Looked in good shape. But if Fitness is a real passion, I hope she has been getting good guidance about how to work through joint issues.
Sometimes when you have not raced in a while you are so much in your head that the focus isn't time, it's about getting to the finish strong , healthy and establishing a baseline. A lot of athletes can run significant faster a week later. Btw, most of your top programs would be more than happy to get a 3:25 from their DMR opening leg. And, a 3:25 converts to better mile for a distance runner like Tuohy than a middle distance runner. All things considered, this is a good start.
I wonder if Katelyn parents follow these threads. And then distill it down into a bunch of bullet points. And then send it to her. To make sure she is getting good feedback.

BTW, I got those two exeercises from youtuber Seth James Demoor's channel, who discusses his rehab from knee injury in his earlier videos.
I actually mean that in a positive way, even though it might sound kind of snarky. I think there are many good observations here

And for anyone interested, DeMoor is 35yr-old sub-elite family man, nonetheless training at a high level. He won the Pikes Peak Marathon last year (setting an age group record in the process.)
My understanding (though still speculative) is that the knee thing was becoming a potentially chronic situation and everyone was in agreement she needed to shut it down for a while. The reality is it could still come back at any time. Fingers crossed.
looking at how Steelman's 3k converted last year from camel city to national qualifier on tfrrs, the difference puts Tuohy's mark at a 9:14.98

Agreed. There is re-hab, and then pre-hab to try an keep it at bay.
She was dealing with inflammation. In my own experience shutting down and giving the body a chance to heal was the best way to deal with it.
OMG... just what I feared bad advice! Well at least she's in a good place now! Henes knows what she's doing, she was a really good runner right? And her daughter is a great Runner so I trust they have some good knowledge
Problem is a lot of doctors aren't really that's skilled in exercise training, and then in the world of PT all sorts of different crazy Notions
Anyway the worst thing you can do is it if you have chronic stuff, is to shut it down and just start chilling and sitting around
You got to switch modalities! Start hiking and then hit the gym and do a ton of Nautilus and all sorts of strength training to strengthen all the muscles around the joints
Joints wear out from repetitive movements. So you want to really strengthen the muscles around them and just do a bunch of different stuff
Just what I feared probably. She was having chronic pain and then people told her she just needs to sit around. Well I know she was into cross training so at least she has a good base of different stuff and she's in a good program so
Any of you guys realize a high school girl ran faster today running alone in lane 2 most of the race?

Since you are replying to me, what specifically are you referring to, since I provided excellent info in my post?!?
