Harris must have been anchor.
It's great to be 18, she will bounce right back tomorrow. Would be concerned if it was same day.
One of the hardest things about college track, is you don't really get that many meets and you have to be at your pr level right from the get go. (Ex: fellow ny grad Sr at CU, Sage Hurta. Meet 1 800 202, meet 2 mile 431, end of season next meet will be indoor nats)
They may only have acc meet, indoor nats???, Xc nats and boom, it's outdoor already.
Katelyn Tuohy is making her collegiate debut at Camel City - predictions?

How about the improvement by Sandusky since transferring to Cincy?
Also pending results from other meets this weekend, the cincy boys are currently 4 and 5 on the D1 5000 list behind the 3 byu guys (flat track conv.) -
Anyone notice I thought Katelyn Tuohy made a slight mistake early on
She was in great position early, and had the lead. And when the outside Lane Runners started to merge she seemed to slow up and break her stride just a little bit to make sure she let the Pacer to the front
should have kept her pace and made the Pacer run in Lane 2 to go around her and take the lead.... let the Pacer do a little extra work and might have been able to have better positioning and run a second or two faster
just a little thing, but losing her momentum seemed to slip into 4th Place and the Pacer ended up running way ahead of everyone else anyway...
Also I agree about the 800, they probably have a few other who can run a solid 1200,. Looks like Katelyn might have been able to run a 212 -
Probably trying to learn how to run with a pacer.

There was a pacer for the DMR? For the 1200 leg? -

Actually they had a Pacer for each leg. It's a new experiment in relay running -

And I for one wasn't a fan of that experiment! To have Pacers running on and off the track like that, during a relay, while people are exchanging the Baton. Well it certainly made for a lot of traffic. And when the pacing lights started misfiring and all going off at the same time it really created quite abit of Chaos! At least no one got hurt! -
How about the men's DMR? Good race! Miami of Ohio killed it on the last lap. Looks like it was over an ol dude came from nowhere.

Sandusky has come out of nowhere to drop a 13:43. He was a 4:19/9:37 guy in high school. Then, at Northern Kentucky, he ran 8:25 for 3000 and a 4:13 mile. Pedestrian compared to the 13:43 he just ran plus an earlier 3000 in 8:02.
WTF happened there? This was not expected at all. -
saw that as well...looked like she got a bit excited at the start and then tried to settle into a pace. The crowd merged on her....not a spot she is used to. Caught back up but gassed out with about 50 m to go.
Still a decent time for a race she normally doesn't run. Wonder when they made the decision to put her in.
Anyway, good way to get the first race over and done with. -
Good to see the nxn announcer there as well!
-
You know what I thought, I think if it was just a normal race without a Pacer Tuohy would have just took the lead at the merge and not even given it a second thought
But since she knew there was a Pacer she was kind of looking over like oh, I know you're supposed to take the lead, I don't want to be trying to outrun the Pacer, and it messed with her Rhythm alittle.
But then the Pacer took off like a bat out of hell and wasn't even close to the field
Anyway I just thought let the Pacer go around you. She's got plenty of extra energy to burn you want to maximize your effort -
yeah, I agree with you. Gotta say, I really dislike the pacer concept especially in this type of event.

Man, NC State has got to be able to find a 53 400 and a 205 800 leg, you need 1105 probably to make Natty field. Heck maybe Tuohy runs 800 as they have other options for 1200.
Tuohy debut? Pretty useful. That may be the first 1200 she has run, unless she ran one in 7th/8th grade? (Mr. Tully???). If we call it a 442 equivalent, that's a promising rust buster (433 is pr), shows she is ready for 3k tomorrow, and more importantly ready for xc.
Best run of 20-21 season for Chmiel, another good omen for xc. Now we have to find out who kidnapped Clairmonte and Howlett.
Here is my list of Katelyn Tuohy's high school relay times by grade:

Looks like she is in similar shape to her freshman year in high school. I predict either a pacing/DNF today or a 9:22.

Question is if she is cherubic? Seriously, McCabe via Canada is in 2ND year at WV, she was 2019 xc frosh of year in Big12.
Also a reference to the Irish Idol Keane. -

Using a pacer is the running equivalent to batting with a corked bat, all but legal. I always hope for the pacer to stay in the race and kick the butts of the other runners, which does happen from time to time. This leads to the question, who is the pacemaker GOAT? -
Paul Pilkington. But that was a bit further than 1200. And having the pacer stay in the race here through 1200 wouldn't have done much sine they didn't have a team so could not win.

That is a lot of history. looks like the strategy was to have Tuohy anchor in the most important races, and flip the order for Loucks. As I recall her team beat Saratoga at Penn Relays right before the 2017 Loucks. The lead that Chmiel made up at Loucks though was incredible

She very clearly ran 2.5 seconds faster on a flat 200m track compared to a 400m outdoor track. If that seems like similar shape to you, I think you’re beyond helping.
