I would have guessed she was going to puma, but boy was I wrong.

Sources?
She signed two contracts?
...would explain why they couldn't afford Molly Seidel anymore...

Yep, waiting on the OP to provide the source.
She could just be testing them out, but she is wearing saucing shoes in this video on her Instagram story (bottom right corner, it’s sorta brief)

She is wearing Saucony* shoes
Might make sense. Saucony's top dog for years has been Molly Huddle. She is now 36 and almost certainly looking at her final Olympic Games this summer. She might stick around for the WC since they are in the US for the first time but I would guess she will be retired after August 2022. Quigley is only 28 so she has some more years in her. I don't foresee any of their other females making the Olympics. Grayson Murphy will make noise in the mountain/trail running scene but that is a niche group.
I like Quigley ! What will the contract be ? Let’s talk money ? 125 k a year
Good for her, hope she does well with Saucony
Saucony had a runner who debuted in the marathon, and debuted in your new super shoe which resulted in an Olympic Team spot and you fail to resign her (Seidel)?
On top of that they failed to market that perspective? I think Seidels performance is the only time I've been persuaded to give a shoe a shot by a runners perfromance.
How do you pass on Seidel and sign Quigley? Laughable
In a niche sport like track and field it all comes down to marketability. They both have similar shots at medaling in their respective events (not likely) but Colleen is literally a model...
She WAS a model. Nike ads don't count bc a lot of the Nike athletes are in them. She's now pushing 30 and no longer a fresh face.

She's getting more than that.

Because Quigley is not only an excellent runner, but she is also beautiful. Beauty really matters when selling. That's life unfortunately.
Brands are not buying strictly athletic performance. You are also buying the athlete's social media reach and their ability to sell lifestyle products also. Assuming that this news is true, Quigley gives Saucony that with her performance, looks, and her ability to transcend the sport. Will she sell running shoes and apparel? Yes. Will she also move a lot of "vintage" lifestyle items like the retro Jazz models? Yes. Will she make Saucony a more appealing brand to young women and high school athletes? Again, yes.
Molly Huddle doesn't do that.
Laura Thweatt barely registers outside of hardcore fans
Molly Seidel is engaging but, it remains to be seen what she does beyond this Olympic cycle - plus she already bailed.
Grayson Murphy's trail endeavors are too niche to move much product
A lot of LRC posters seem to believe that athletic sponsorship is a meritocracy based solely on performance. Nothing could be further from the truth. Unless you consistently win medals like Rupp, then you better have an engaging personality and outstanding social media chops if you want to get a big deal. Sports are entertainment no different than movies or music. The best paid actors and the highest grossing concert acts are rarely the most talented individuals. If they were, then classically trained stage actors should rule the box office and Julliard schooled musicians and singers should dominate the charts. Instead, cheesy action movies and catchy pop songs made with attractive people are what people plunk down money for. Casual runners that buy their own shoes are not inspired by somber athletes leading monastic lifestyles that do not connect with fans of the sport.
Who is Grayson Murphy? If you’ve moved to trail running it’s because you aren’t that good enough to be an actual professional runner. She should probably retire
Seidel is way better looking than Quigley.
If she’s making money from running trails there is absolutely no reason to retire. Imagine being a sub elite runner and making as much as some elites and thinking “well even though I’m getting paid the same I should retire cause some dumb@ss on letsrun said I should retire because I can’t compete on the roads or track”. You’re literally an idiot.
Can we agree that all runners are beautiful? Quigley should earn more because she's beautiful. Seidel should earn more because she's beautiful. Athletes (as the rest of the world uses the term) should be the biggest popular-culture stars in the world. This silly website furthers the cause, so let's celebrate them all.
