Hi. I'm looking for some very light racing flats for 1mile/5k/10k races that i can use on the road and on the track. I prefer very lightweight flats from previous experience.
I'm looking at the:
Reebok Run Fast Pro (3.5oz/100g): https://www.reebok.co.uk/floatride-run-fast-pro-shoes/FU8238.html
and the Adidas Adizero Prime (4.1oz/119g): https://tinyurl.com/cqtmmz3b
Does anyone have any experience with these shoes or can you recommend any other racing flats that are less than 5 ounces (ideally less than 4)?
Thanks

I like the wave universe. Might be discontinued though.

The lightweight racing flats i have experience with are:
- Saucony Endorphin Racer 2 - -- - 11mm stack
- Reebok Float Ride Run Fast Pro - -- - 20/17mm stack
- Sketchers Horizon Vanish - -- - 20/16mm stack
Each have similar fit and differ mainly in the midsole stack/shape/&firmness
After running the Reebok & Sketchers and appreciating the additional midsole stack my Endorphin is now only used for 200's on the track.
- -- The Reebok has a firmer foam and flat bottom.
- -- The Sketchers has a softer foam(but still plenty firm enough for speed) and has a beveled heal & toe taper/spring for a more rockered shape.
- If you are efficient with a true flat then you cant go wrong with the Reebok.
- Where the Sketchers thrives is its versatility. It accommodates a variety of footstrike/technique because of the rockered design. This could be good for those using for the 10k to 1/2 if their technique changes throughout the race.
Do your research on that Addidas Prime. I see a range of differing specs. So make sure you know exactly what you are getting if you decide to give em a shot. Looks like they have a larger heal/toe drop than the above shoes (8mm?) so depending on your running technique could be beneficial or detrimental. -
I love these...

They have carbon fibre and are very lightweight. Good up to 5k, you could take em for up to 10k -
Those Adidas are not light. Altra vanishr are very light. You can also try the Nike streak lt. that seems to be a favorite.

about the sekchers: do they have a wide or a small toebox? im cant try them and since ive got wider feet than the average and some review be saying theyve got a small toebox im kinda struggling.
would be great to hear your thoughts! -
I've run in the Skechers. They have a very narrow toe box. If you're a bit wide you'll be getting blisters on the medial side of your big toes. I found them to be a bit soft (good for say a half), but not so much for energy return. I run mid to forefoot so l didn't get much out of the rocker design. Especially with how soft and flexible they are.
I would give the nod to the reeboks as they have more room in the forefoot. I thought they were very comfortable.
The Nike streak lt is also an excellent choice. They are built like a true flat (that you'd find from all major brands a decade ago). They have a better/slightly wider (or at least better shaped) toe box than the Skechers, are light, and you can get almost 3 pairs of the lt for the price of the Reeboks. -
The Reeboks are great for fast running, but ONLY road/track. I took an older pair on a dirt path out of curiousity, and the foam got pretty ripped up. They're also pretty "flat" feeling, so that can take some getting used to if you're coming from high drop shoes. Watch the Reebok website and you can regularly get them for half price or less.
I like the Horizon Vanish too, but they're more of a trainer for me. -
thanks a lot!!

Actually I think those both look good. I used to love that type of shoe.

Bondi 6, best flat I've ever tried. A dozen sessions in those and you'll be breaking PRs with your new strength.
