I think there needs to be more discernment for who gets feed into the groups. Mark isn’t a bad coach as illustrated by Nick Simmonds, Hassan Mead, Ben Blankenship.
But those are also pretty fiercely independent guys who could disappear for a month and go off and coach themself.
I think a lot of the European athletes are more geared towards that, so Mark started to cater to that. Plenty of top tier track athletes while being disciplined hard working individuals, don’t necessarily have strong opinions about who they are, or what they want, and I don’t think those people mesh well with Marks coaching style.
And Nike/Mark probably needs a little more discretion in knowing what athletes to recruit based upon his style.
