I am a senior in highschool and have been training since i was a frosh.
I have pretty respectable speed. Ive ran a 23.2 open 200
My aerobic strength is pretty good too. Ive been running 65-70 miles a week since quarantine and do staple workouts like 4mile tempo 5:15 average and 8 x 1k in around 3 flat.
Despite this, my mile time is only 4:41. This doesnt make any sense to me and my coach is at a complete loss. I feel great in my workouts and my strength and speed clearly indicate that I should be at least a 4:20 miler but for the life of me i cant run faster.
I cant really explain why but every time i run more than 3 laps at 70 sec pace my balls feel like they are gonna explode and I have to slow down.
Has anyone ever experienced this? How do i fix it?
