So due to some mental health issues and lack of motivation during quarantine, I ran a total of 4 miles for a two month stretch from mid October to mid December. When i can home for the holidays, I TT a mile in 5:00( lmao) and did about 25 miles that week. After that, I didn't run again until mid January.
Ive now only been running consistently for 4 weeks (Im on my 5th week right now). Here is my training.
Week 1:
39 miles in 6 days
Paced my dad to a 6:15 mile and then ran another mile right after in 5:35
no long run
Week 2:
45 miles in 6 days
2 x mile w/ 75s rest (5:27, 5:21) + 100, 200, 200, 100 (13.9, 28.7, 29.9, 14.1)
Week 3:
43 miles in 5 days (planned to run 6 but had to help friend and it was too late to run when i finished)
Tuesday: 15 min tempo @ 5:35/mile
Saturday: 4 x 5 min tempo w/ 1 min jog rest @ 5:28/mile, 4x 100m in 13-14
10 mile easy long run
Week 4:
47 miles in 6 days
Tuesday: 20 min tempo @ 5:33/ mile (first 3 miles at 5:35/mile, last 1k at 5:13/mile)
Saturday: Helped pace friend for 5k TT. Ran a 1200, 2 x 400, and a 250 at about 73 sec pace (Don't know rest). Then did 6x200 @33 down to 29 w/ 1 min jiggle. Then 2x 100 (12.8, 14.00).
No long run, only ran 8 miles on Sunday.
Week 5 (So far):
Monday: Scheduled off
Tuesday: 1 x mile (5:09), 2 x 800 (2:29, 2:25), 4 x 400 (70, 69, 67, 67), 8 x 200 (33, 30, 32, 31, 31, 30, 29, 28). 3 min between sets, 90 sec between reps.
Will probably run 50-55 miles this week.
I feel like my fitness is coming back way faster than expected. Is this progression unexpected?
