Here are my "quick takes" ;)
Wesley Kiptoo has had an incredible XC season thus far and is the person I would bet on to win NCAA nationals in March. Seriously, he broke the course record by 35 SECONDS and won by 15 seconds in a good field. Looks so effortless too.
Zofia Dudek had a great debut for Stanford, running 20:09, a very respectable time, coming through the 5k at 16:58 (her FL time was 16:45). She placed third behind Ella Donaghu and Cailie Logue (3x Big 12 champ). Being a true freshman, look for big things coming for her in the future.
Cole Sprout did better than expected, finishing 5th as the first place freshman at the meet and the first runner for Stanford which is not easy. His debut was not quite as impressive as Nico Young's, but it is notable that he was only 7 seconds off the previous course record (despite being 42 seconds back from Kiptoo, which again shows how impressive he is)
Stanford men won big today against Iowa State and Colorado, which are very good teams. With a 31 POINT GAP 67-98 (ISU and CU tied), I would expect them to be top 4 at NCAA (possibly 3rd behind NAU and BYU which seem to be in a league of their own).
Colorado beat Stanford women by 5 points 72-77, and gapped the rest of the field by quite a bit (Duke was third in 128, big 12 winner Iowa State was 5th 189). They are both scary teams at this point that could do big things at the NCAAs
Please add thoughts here! Great racing by everyone, super fun match up :)
