I honestly don't know much about Nguse. What little I've heard of him left me with the impression that he's a really good middle distance runner, but longer races are not his strength.
Am I missing something? He didn't break top 40 in XC nationals in 2019. He wouldn't have even been top 5 for BYU at that race.
Either way this race is NAUs to lose. They are absolutely packed with talent. It's preposterous how talented they are really. And they probably have the best coach in the nation + training at altitude. BYU is great also, but don't have any room for error at all. They aren't nearly as deep and if their 4 or 5 has even an average day they won't stand a chance.
I haven't paid any attention to ND, but a small meeting like this makes it much easier to land an upset over BYU...but I don't see ND having a shot at NAU.
