How is it possible that there is no livestream for the Razorback Invitational today and tomorrow? I don't understand what is going on here.
One of the best DMR fields for a regular season meet that I've seen in a while, at the track where the national record was set, and we don't get to watch (or even see live results?) Oregon is stacked with sub-4 milers, Ole Miss is stacked with sub-4 and soon-to-be Sub-4 milers, Iowa state has some dogs, and Arkansas is pretty damn good as well. The women are going to run a ridiculously fast 5k too, and then on Saturday, super deep mile and 3k fields for both the women and the men. There are gonna be some serious national marks set this weekend. Kemboi vs. Teare vs. Garcia Romo in the 3k?? These are legit BU level races.
I know people hate on Wesfly for hyping themselves up, but it works. I want to watch them race and see if they can back up their talk, but we literally can't. They generated a market, but noone is letting us consume it. Same with the Oregon guys. Their youtube channel was booming over the summer, and we grew to like them and want to see them race. So how about letting us do that??
There is a lot of talk in track about gaining more fans. I agree with this, but we should also try and make it more accessible for the fans that are already here. The fact that we cannot watch this meet is just ridiculous.
I don't mind flotrack at all. Everyone whines about paying subscription, but in reality its like what $125 for a whole year of T&F. Worth it in my book absolutely. But for the meets that Flotrack doesn't have rights to, how about the hosting school just sets up a camera and livestreams it on youtube? Not that hard. It may not make them money, but it gives the fans what they want and allows us to root for the teams we like, which probably includes the host. It creates buzz and makes the sport more fun, so why not?
I feel like I must be missing something or are we just getting screwed.
