Fresh Foam/EverRun/Boost/etc are all the same to me. Newish cushioning that is better than their predecessors, which I believe was mostly EVA and PU foam.
Most of the lower tier running shoes ($50-100 retail range) still use this stuff I think? The newer technology goes in the more expensive shoes that you see on running warehouse. EVA and PU shoes are relegated to retail stores (, Scheel's, Dick's, even Kohl's in the midwest) and company-specific websites like Newbalance.com.
Are these shoes worth getting? If you're a lightweight, neutral shoe guy, is there a downside to getting your miles in with an $59 "inferior" name-brand shoe? They use cushioning that was state of the art in the 2000's, and people ran just fine then. They can't be that bad, right?
