His 14:01 PR was from indoors last year. He has ran 13:48 outdoors this past summer and ran 4:00 last weekend on the same track. Christian has taken his running to a new level these past 8 months and is going to be the stud we all knew he could be. As for his spikes, his school is a Nike school ,so he uses Nike.
His progressions are unreal. He ran at 10+ second personal best at 1500m and then kept going for another 109 meters. Smell that? Smells fishy.
Or was it just another trick of the light?
Will he stick to the 5 or move to the 10 outdoors?
He ran a 4:00.05 Mile last week. Please try to keep up.

A college runner getting a PR at 1500m in a mile race is not the least bit uncommon.
You are incorrect.
The 10 second improvement is what he was referring to.
I'm curious to see whether the record will be 'ratified' given the use of light pacing technology.
Did they ratify Cheptegai’s record?

10+ second improvement on a time.....from four years ago.
I think the issue people are bringing up is that he was frozen at the same times for years and all of a sudden, exploded.

It is a real record! Why does this sport have to stay stuck and not advance? The N.B.A has changed..NFL..MLB. Its called growth. This is a great time!
I get that Cheptegei's record has been ratified, but the NCAA rules are different.
Despite being inconsistent as an underclassmen he has had flashes of greatness every year since 2015. The 5k is the only event with a major breakthrough from 14:30 in 2017 to 14:01 in January 2020
2015 14:55 5k, Footlocker finalist
2016 9:04 3200 Runner up to Ben Veatch at Indiana state meet
2017 8:55 steeplechase - D2 All-American as true freshman, 23:50 8k in fall
2018 23:26 8k, 18th D2 cross nationals
2019 5th D2 steeple final
2020 8:05/14:01 indoor, 13:48 5k in August, undefeated xc season
