How come the ATL halftime show wasn't just all ATL rappers? You can't please everyone.

No Super Bowl halftime show will ever beat Prince at the 2007 Super Bowl. So it's a pointless discussion, IMO. They should just do a hologram performance of Prince every year for the Super Bowl.
I tend to have negative opinions of people who are concerned with who performs at the Super Bowl halftime.
Are you ready for some football?
The fact that you need entertainment half-way through the game shows what a terrible sport it is.
Maybe because country music blows?

Is that why you became a runner? Too small and scrawny to play football. Ahhhhh!!!! Boo Boo Kitty!!!

Superbowl halftime shows are largely determined by whoever is making the biggest ad buy around the halftime show. If the ad buy is targeting older audiences (soft wee wee drugs, etc.), then they will dust off some old rocker like The Who or Bruce Springsteen. If the target audience is younger (new iPhone or whatever), then you get someone who is a bit more current, like Beyonce or Lady Gaga.
You will never see a country act because that demographic is just not valued by the companies that do the big ad buys during the superbowl want as broad a reach as they can get. People in flyover country are generally reliable consumers who are brand loyal.
It significantly helps drive ratings, which you want with selling all those ads.
Also, most country acts just aren't entertaining to a very large audience, as evidenced by record sales. People who live in flyover country who are country fans are also football fans, by and large, and will tune-in to watch anyway and will happily endure or mute some pop-dance musical act. Eyes you want to get on the screen more that ordinarily wouldn't watch are those of Soccer Mom and Suburban Sister, that's what the pop-dance act at halftime is for. They aren't making an appointment to watch for a marching band.

:-) No - I play rugby. I'm a full-back.
I don't understand - go run one what?

It's funny how people look at the group and or its genre rather than listening to the actual song. How about just appreciating how good the song is. Blinding Lights is a great song that's perfect for the Super Bowl. Nothing more, Nothing less. Also, if you look back at past Super Bowl halftime performers you'll see a wide range of music from all genres.

Country music would ensure that I don't watch the halftime show, but I probably won't watch anyway.
OOOOOH I'M BLINDED BY THE LIGHT

Super Bowl music is chosen to get people who wouldn't watch otherwise to turn in. Country fans already watch football.
That's the problem, they repeatedly crap on their fans. Lame rules changes for concussions, kneeling for the anthem, BLM garbage, halftime shows, and more.
If they don't care about their fans, fans will find better ways to spend their time and money.
Love it or leave it baby! It's the Amurican way. USA! USA! USA!
Because it's awful?
Do you really not know that?

So a person does like a certain type of music that makes them racist?

Because it is utterly unbearable, brainless, crap.
Thanks!
As someone who barely listens to any music released in the last 15 years, I think The Weeknd is pretty good. He will draw an audience that isn’t necessarily watching the Super Bowl for the game.
I’m not a country fan either, but it has a few good artists.
Daddy got home from work just in time for the second half. Goat Super Bowl by the goat on 4K digital cable. Remember the Titans. Cry me a river miss those tailgate days.

Oh stop. Even as someone who hates 99% of what comes out of Nashville, I can admit that Country includes some of the best music around. Here is a nice 20-minute session with two of the genre's best musicians of two different generations.
Enjoy!
