what works for me is rather simple.
I just resolve myself to get out the door with some running gear on and start walking a bit until i feel like running. Listening to music (earbuds) and a cup of coffee help so that is part of the pre-run routine.
Then, within a half block, i always start running, and from there, usually within a mile, i ease into the level of workout i feel i can handle. If it's a chore, i do an easy day, but more often than not, it all depends on the preceeding workouts, and if they haven't been hard or long, i ramp it up.
Intervals are good to do with a group imo.
Point being, let the run come to you, as the saying goes. Just showing up is 90% as Woody Allen has said, and that has worked for me.
