Im a high schooler in the offseason about to race track in a couple weeks. I’ve stacked 3 months of really good 45-50 mile weeks with 33-35 mile down weeks, good workouts twice a week, running 10-12 mile long runs and 8-10 medium long runs. im probably around 5:00 for the 1600, but I’ve time trialed a 11:30 3200 recently and an 18:40 5k weeks ago. I ran close to those times back in cross country. Why don’t I see big improvements in the longer races that are 2 miles+ even tho I feel fit for the 1600? Ive done plenty aerobic work so whats missing?
