The reality is there are only like 11,000 summer Olympians. To fast track them so that billions across the globe can be entertained and be given something to enjoy during a hellish time is far from crazy - it's rationale. Plus given Japan a return on the $15 billion they have spent on this also make sense.

Not weighing in one way or another, but in terms of non-athletic staff typical for an olympic (support personnel like trainers and medical teams, logistics personnel, media, venue staff, security, etc), what does this all add up to in terms of people?
And now Reuters is reporting that the rumours of cancellation are untrue; so who knows.

Erm, there are tons of people out there (including myself) working on products that are used to entertain/connect billions. It’s not clear to me why the olympics are different and deserve special treatment.
The Olympics transcend entertainment. They are about bringing multiple cultures together to further understanding and peace. That's one component. The other component is testing and highlighting the limits of human potential. This is something special. Perhaps if you're working on a product that actually helps billions you should get to jump the line as well.

Yes, you have posted their marketing points. But their goal of "highlighting the limits human potential," if you actually believe that nonsense, is strictly vanity when you boil it down. This is absolutely not worth neglecting people's safety and lives so a showoff spectacle can be held.

Exactly, if there was one group that should be last, it's athletes. They're probably at the least risk of anyone.
If you have a choice of vaccinating either Molly Seidel or jamin, which one would you pick? I will take Seidel in nanosecond.
