Genocides like the Holocaust are ethnic/religious/political cleansings. What alternative "viewpoint" can there possibly be? That they were plain old mass-murders where the murdered just happened to be mostly one group of people, or selected groups of people, by accident? The perpetrators are not to blame for that coincidence?
Why not teach about genocides in general, and the mindsets of the perpetrators. Why have so many people bought into the extermination of other people? How was it that so many involved with looking-the-other-way were able to continue on with life afterward like the event never happened?[quote]

1) "the mindsets of the perpetrators" - They are victims. They are getting revenge against those who have victimized them.

2) "Why have so many people bought into the extermination of other people?" - (a) They too are victims, getting their just revenge. (b) Just following orders, if I don't do it someone else will anyway so I might as well profit/protect myself.
-- (c) Claiming the spoils of an atrocity (looting) to build their own personal wealth.
3) "How was it that so many involved with looking-the-other-way were able to continue on with life afterward like the event never happened?" - People do not like to think about their own moral failings. It is relatively easy to just put it out of your mind.
-- Like the school bully who beats up kids, and later in life cannot see that as a personal failing. They see it as continuing to lead a "normal" life. Adult Trumpers are these people. Bullies as young. Not bullies for a while (in the closet). Bullies once again when they are called to arms by a Trump-like "leader".

Not necessarily Conundrums ;-)
-- But is that an acceptable teaching alternative to a goal of establishing a master race, whether ethnic, religious or political?
