Looks like case drops are leveling off now. The new more contagious variants are likely taking over in the US. We really need a solid vaccination plan.

Here's to hoping it goes even higher!
If your next car is powered by gasoline you are an idiot.

yeah maybe
could have been the bad weather causing a holdup in reporting that is being caught up to now.
I'm holding off until next week to see.
Since both cases and deaths have nosed up (usually they are not synchronized like this), I think it might be a reporting artifact, not actually what is going on in the nation.
Who among us hasn't gotten kicked out of the Navy for snorting cocaine, knocked up a stripper, preyed on a brother's widow, and collected $3.5 million in secret wire transfers from the wife of Moscow's former mayor?

I think the feds should say 'we'll never let gasoline go below $4 a gallon' or something like that, and use taxes to keep prices up.
That would encourage more people to get out and buy electric.
Instead, the federal tax on gasoline hasn't risen for 30 years so it has actually fallen.
The problem with the $4 plan is that it is regressive and punishes poor people. In theory could earmark some of the tax income to lower income taxes of poor people or something like that.

but Fats that's not fair - people who live in cities and park their cars on the street have no way to have electric cars. Just doesn't work. And America is an urban country.

Lol get with the times. Free market capitalism is moving to electric powered vehicles.
Also Joe was elected fair and square.

The weather issue would likely have resulted in a sharper drop in cases due to lower testing not a leveling or increase in cases.

There are very few people still in a situation where an EV wouldn't work. So for those few who are in that situation and must have a new car today, I guess they are not idiots.
But all that is changing fast. There is plenty of public charging in shopping areas now and many city streets and parking garages have or will soon have chargers. Plus, you can pick up a used EV today for cheaper than a comparable used gas car. You get a car that won't break down like gas powered used cars. And it runs on cheap electricity instead of expensive gas.
Soon gas powered cars will be practically worthless on the used car market. Nobody will want them. They are clunky to drive. They will be banned in many cities. Buying a used gas car will be as popular as buying a used flip phone.
So I'll amend my statement. If your next car is powered by gasoline are probably an idiot.

When people stop buying gasoline and go electric, where will the gas tax be made up to try and keep up with road repairs?
Okay, so when all of the college kids take their electric cars to college you really think this is a less expensive option to add chargers for every dorm resident and all of the off campus housing?

We should have carbon pricing in general. But it won't happen.
You have to pay to put your trash in a landfill. But nobody pays to dump their garbage into the air.
If we had a carbon tax that reflected the true cost of products that produce air pollution then you would solve the climate crisis in one fell swoop.

The states are already putting an extra tax on EV's to make up for their lost gas tax revenue. The federal government could do something similar.
I don't know man...google maps drive around LA, NYC, Boston, SF...streets are jammed with cars parked. People dont' have garages and can't spend hours at a plug in station waiting either. That's tens of millions of car owners. The nation is not a suburban country.
I think you need an even stronger qualifier - something like 'If your next car is powered by gasoline and you live in the burbs or rurally, you are an idiot.'

So how quickly will I be able to replace the Winnebago with an electric motor, or the truck used for work and to pull the boa?. When will Mercury have a 150hp equivalent electric outboard motor and how will I charge that when I'm in Canada at a remote lake for a week?
Biden had 50 YEARS to be an ally and help the American people, Instead he enriched his coke-head son and himself on the way to cozying up with America’s enemies and fleecing the American taxpayer to fund his privileged life.

or 'if you have a garage and you buy a new gasoline car you are probably an idiot'
My brother used to live in Colorado and I believe he paid over a thousand a year to drive a Ford Bronco 4 x4. I thought he said the price was based on gas mileage/emissions or something similar that was more for less fuel efficient vehicles.
There are plenty of people who live in the city and drive an EV. Even people who park on the street. You don't have to spend hours charging. Just a few minutes at a DC fast charging station while you shop will give you enough juice for a week of short city commutes. Also, more and more people have access to charging at work.
If you don't drive an EV, you probably haven't noticed how plentiful charging has become. And it's just going to get better.
Sure, if everyone switched to an EV overnight it wouldn't work. But charging infrastructure is doing a very good job of keeping up with demand and I expect that to continue.

Which electric car should I look at if I want to replace my current 38 mpg gas car. Keep in mind I typically put on 30K on this vehicle. I need this car for numerous 500 - 700 mile one way road trips. I will not have time to stop and charge the car until I reach my destination, and even then I'm concerned about finding charging stations, but willing to listen and learn.
