As I understand it, the Inflation Reduction Act does have some provisions to speed up the permitting process. So that should help domestic production.
And the bill also gives huge incentives to source raw materials from countries where we have free trade agreements and are better able to monitor the environmental impact. This excludes China.

Some people think it's unfair for hedge fund managers, but Chuck Schumer has made sure to oppose anything that would only apply to investment managers (his constituents). But no one wants to eliminate it for all of private equity either, so this bill only slightly alters it. With that said I agree that I don't see why anyone including Sinema would care.

I don't make much of a distinction between hedgies and PE guys in terms of this. The idea is that they want to tax some of their compensation at lower capital gains rates rather than income tax rates. because 'sweat equity' or something like that.
I think it's all very silly. They are paid fees to do a job and if they do the job well they get higher fees. It's wages, pure and simple, and should be taxed at full income tax rates like the rest of us.
