How are these pro runners able to afford Kitsilano, Point Grey, UBC area? Bruchet, R. Watson, Pidhoresky, Cliff, etc.
It’s like $2000 for a 1 Bedroom in that area? Mom and dad paying rent? Must be otherwise they be out in Surrey.

My 1 Bedroom in South Surrey is $2300 per month . This is what it cost . 2k per month in Kits would be a disappointment if you can find anything .
They have partners and pool their resources,
Maybe some of them have other jobs? I know a former national marathon champion who worked full time as a radiologist while holding the title.
Move to Abbotsford, more affordable.

Who the hell would choose to live in Abbotsford?!?
I used to run a small consulting engineering office there back in the 90s, living in another Fraser Valley city. The area has some particular charms, particularly if you are a fairly serious Christian (I am not), and if you enjoy hiking. Our place had a great view out the back windows of Mount Cheam, for example. The down sides are the constant overcast, rainy conditions through the fall and winter, and the awful smell of liquid pig manure that gets spread on the farmers' fields throughout the valley.
There's a reason (many reasons) why somebody would choose to live in Kits, Point Grey, UBC or other areas of central Vancouver. It's an awesome city, surrounded by the ocean and nestled into the mountains, with everything under the sun going on.

Move to Bellingham. Half the price and better running.
Canadians would have a difficult time moving to Bellingham because Bellingham is in the state of Washington, in the USA and unless the Canadian has a special visa to live in work in the USA it would not make sense to live in Bellingham.

None of that is particularly difficult, especially when the COL is factored in.
I moved from Abbotsford to Bellingham in 1988.
Bellingham is a great place for running with all the mountain bike trails.
Eastern Fraser Valley (Sardis, Cultus Lake) has good running in the mountains.

Oh man, I have not been a "pro" runner for almost 5yrs now, and even when I was "pro" I had a part time job and was broke as hell (mainly do to the fact that I wasn't very fast, and rarely actually won races). Anyways, I have a job and a wife and we make it work. Kits is the best, I hope I never have to leave.
Wiki says that the avg. househould income is 73k. Doesn't seem too out of reach for a pro runner who probably coaches and does some other part time stuff + whatever their spouse makes.
