I have been accused of being a liberal "weenie."
This is untrue - I am neither a liberal or a "weenie."
However to recover my image, I have decided I need a cool, tough car - definitely American made.
Would the new Ford Bronco accomplish this goal?

If you absolutely, positively need to spend $35K or more to get a tough and rugged image then yeah, a Bronco is probably money well spent.
In more seriousness. I live in Portland OR where people have good access to public transit, good bike routes. Because of that I can actually see urban Portlanders buying a lot of Broncos as ironic as that may seem given Portland eco liberal image. Instead of shelling out $45K or more for a Model Y its more appealing to buy a public transit passes, a good bike, and the occasional Lyft ride to do most of your commuting and city transport needs. Then buy the Bronco to go to the mountains and the coast. One's carbon footprint is probably hardly any worst than the Model Y owner.
What trim? Either way, perpare to pay sticker + then some.
AC Cowlings would agree with that purchase! Make sure it's white.

A gun or tribal face tattoo would be a lot cheaper.
Go with the Ford Mustang Mach E.
That ticks all of your boxes, plus it's electric and has no emissions.
The dawn of capable electric SUVs is very close. With long enough range on the batteries I think people will embrace. I would certainly prefer that - but I need to fix my image ASAP. What you described is close to my lifestyle. The majority of miles on my current car are for trips to the mountains. My only hesitation with Bronco is you have to get a pretty nice trim package to get "comfort" safety features that should be mandatory on all cars these days (lane departure warning, blind spot warnings, automatic braking etc.). After all, there will be lots of road driving no matter what and safety is important.

Those are only useful safety features for people who drive distracted. Or inebriated. Put down the damn phone to drive because I promise you Jenny's post can wait 20 minutes for your "like" and don't drink/toke before you get behind the wheel and you should be fine all the time.
What is the cu ft of cargo? Will it fit all of your wokeness?
I need to drive in the snow and on unpaved surfaces in the mountains.

Sorry you are just naive to the truth about driving. No matter your perceived awareness mistakes happen and the drivers of 2 ton killing machines have a strict obligation to minimize the risk to other road users. Technology can provide a superhuman level of awareness - it's dumb to not have these tools on every car. I cycle a ton and feel strongly about this.

So what are you driving now in the snow and unpaved surfaces in the mountains that makes you look like a weenie?
Bigger isn't better in the snow. And as long as you are on dirt roads and aren't pulling a trailer, you really only need AWD. Subaru Outback Onyx is probably the best vehicle if you are out in the mountains and getting covered in mud. The only issue with the Outback is that you cannot use chains on them in the snow. You have to use an auto sock if you are in an area with mandatory chain rules. The auto socks work just fine, but you are actually better off on snow tires without the socks. Outbacks are like a rock in the snow.
If you are set on a Bronco, I would wait at least a year. Ford is notorious for sending out very glitchy vehicles when they do a redesign or come out with a new model. It is better to let the engineers at Ford figure out what they screwed up in 2021 and buy a version in 2022 that has fixed everything then to be a guinea pig in 2021.
Or go with a Chevy Blazer since an American brand was one of the qualifications.
But any of the Jeeps will as well.
You don't buy an image, you are what you are. If people think of you as a liberal wienie, it is likely due to your behavior. If you want to toughen up your image, start lifting weights and learn to hunt and fish. Once you get some decent biceps and start killing some animals, people will give you more respect.
That's a respected image.

Buying and driving a car is a behavior and therefore a factor in your image. But it would be more cost effective to just get the car you want, and get a "Work harder, millions on welfare depend on you!" t-shirt ($20) to save your image.
I have had one Ford in my life...a 2000 Ford Windstar. It sucked. I will never buy another Ford ever.
I am NOT necessarily anti-American cars though. I had a Saturn SL1 that was a great car and a Buick Skyhawk that we bought used that served us well for about 8 years.
Never a Ford again though. Also, I'm not fond of buying a new line until after more than 2 years in. Let the kinks get worked out first.
Broncos are build in at the Michigan Assembly Plant in Wayne. Michigan voted 50.6% for Biden.
So this is a liberal car as much as it can be.
You are not the car you drive, you are not how much money you have in the bank, you are not your ........ khakis.
