But to be fair. With the rate were spreading covid in america anyways we kind of already are letting it go the herd immunity route haha. (sigh)

So much you don't know about "the" vaccine?
What does that mean?
What did you know about any other vaccine that you got in your life?
Please name one thing.
^ That's the obvious challenge to all of the smarty-panties that claim they wouldn't get a vaccine because they "don't know" about it when they have in fact been ignorant to science their entire lives yet they have benefitted from every other vaccine and technological innovation while knowing nothing about them.
couple of things we do know - it's not even a vaccine in the sense of what 99% of the population thinks when they hear "vaccine". As in, as you stated, it doesn't stop you either contracting or spreading covid, it increases your chances of a better immune system response. That's not a vaccine.
Oh and it lasts 3 weeks.
Yeah that will be a pass from my side - I'll just continue following the rules with the minimum disruption it's been to my life and continue to not be infected (as the 5 tests I've taken so far have shown).
I agree with a lot of your post.
Thanks for the info and your perspective
I hopefully won't take the vaccine.
Point 4.i agree. But shouldn't be ignored just to say oh well we can't do it in time so oh well. There's lots of things we can do to prevent the next pandemic. Like making a healthier society. Easier said than done, I know.
It just makes me mad. Obesity was a huge factor this disease crippled our society. And yet NO ONE is talking about aggressively attacking this issue head on so that we don't shut down our society again cause we're too damn fat. Another pandemic is coming. And we will repeat the same mistakes, or look to technology and employ our brightest minds for the "answer"when the answer is salad.
I am aware obesity isn't the only cofactor, but you get my point. If we stopped smoking, ate healthy, lived healthy lives. We would have brushed off covid.
I don't agree about the wifi thing, but otherwise some good points thanks

That it would stop me contracting a virus/illness.
Like when I took my chickenpox vaccine as a kid. Or my MMR shot. Or when I went to Thailand on holiday and they told me I needed a typhoid and hep B vaccination shot - you know the things that would actually make me immune from catching these illnesses.
No that isn't on a scientific basis - but that's what I know about other vaccines I have got in my life.
This garbage from Pfizer/Moderna does none of the above.
I know that the mmr vaccine which I got as a child has a very long safety history with lots of studies and many millions of doses.
There ya go. One thing :).
And for the record I have a bs in biology and a master's degree focusing on wildlife diseases. I'm no expert in epidemiology, but I definitely know a thing or two.
I am not an anti vaxxer. It's honestly more what I described in my other post in this thread, how we are focusing on the wrong things. And in my opinion shutting down society in a very unfair way, moreso than we need to be if we approached how we life our lives, take care of our bodies, take care of the planet etc in a much healthier way.
This may sound extreme, but so is locking down the whole planet. Lol.
Also, another poster brought up a good point about political suicide of banning trans fats. But we've employed some pretty draconian policies cause of covid. Maybe we could have done something similar with regards to food. Like a temporary ban on certain foods and smoking. It would be super difficult to create, implement, enforce, but might actually save a lot more lives. And not many people could have fathomed how much restrictions we've been able to accept so far, and yet here we are.

Just inject the live virus into any anti vaxers or those who think the vaccines are unsafe. Think will be a good way to build up their immune system...
I'm not dismissing how difficult it's been to ban unhealthy foods. Just to be clear. I agree with you.

I don't believe that you knew anything you claimed here before getting those vaccines.
Also, have you ever considered the possibility that you could be wrong about something?
No problem, get to the back of the line. I, for one, cannot wait to move freely in the world again without fear. Stick me!

Or just blow a hole in your head to clear it of the clogged crap.

Have you considered the same?
Eating healthy and exercising requires EXTRA effort (and money usually), beyond the idea of self-control. Unregulated capitalism finds out weak points and takes advantage. Sick people are an "externality." There is no way for an individual company to capture benefits that acrue to the society as a whole.
Enter: socialism! It makes sense, and we can still have capitalism alongside.
The Unkle wrote:How many of those things are shot directly into our bodies?
Firstly, most or all of them do enter our bodies.
And secondly, they're all things we're exposed to on a long-term, daily basis, unlike the covid vaccine. Most things with long term health effects are a result of chronic exposures, rather than single exposures.

So the answer is none.
I trust the vaccine simply because they’re making the healthiest people wait til the end. All the politicians and doctors are getting it first.
To me, that’s a pretty strong indicator that it’s safe. Sure we don’t know long term effects, but seems very promising.
Politicians are the worst. If they’re getting it, it’s gotta be okay in my mind. But... just my opinion, not science.
There two sides of the coin.
1. We don’t know the long term effects of the vaccine
2. We don’t know the long term effects of having Covid (beyond 10 months)
I had Covid already. I hate to vaccinate and be a double guinea pig.
