Buy a bicycle.

I 100% know it is PF, which is an injury that isn't healing while I train.
PF is tricky and can take a long time to heal.
I am not a doctor, and there is a lot of conflicting and useless information on the topic, but ...
I think it is important to massage the foot (with your knuckles or with a golf ball) and stretch it by grabbing your toes and pulling towards you first thing in the morning, before you stand up and put your full weight on your foot.
This is because all the healing at night gets undone when you stand up and put your full weight on a tight foot, re-tearing what was temporarily healed.
But again, I am not a doctor.
I've always thought you were trolling but I will answer honestly.
Yes you should quit.
Firstly, there is absolutely no point pushing yourself if 1. You are damaging your body and 2. You are not reaching your goals.
My advice would go for a lot of people on here. The user laterunnerphil springs to mind... that guy was so desperate to run a 15 minute 5k to the point where he was vomiting... but what's the point? It's still not good enough to even win a regional level race.
Might as well simply run for enjoyment or quit and do another sport of which there are many.

You do not have any significant talent for running, so trying to "compete" in running (make it onto a team, etc.) is bound to be a frustrating waste of your time. Don't go down that path.
Similarly, you also do not have the physical durability for running, so working toward being a committed recreational runner (30 MPW or whatever is the threshold for that) is also a waste of time for you. Don't bother.
Find something else to do with your life. Cycling is probably a good idea to look into. And maybe try to be a little more self-aware, when it comes to all your incessant whining.
Are we sure he's not a troll? I know older overweight middle age men who didn't start jogging till their late 30s/early 40s who do more jogging per week with no real injury problems than what David 45 claims he does.
Quit and find yourself another hobby which has another forum attached to it.
Thanks and good luck.
I think it’s more important that you quit Letsrun.
With any handheld you are using.

I'd highly recommend working with a physical therapist (with a focus on running) to figure out what's going on. A PT can throw you on a treadmill and analyze your mechanics. There are also a lot of great strength and balance exercise you can do to strengthen your weak areas.
David, if you want to quit running you should quit and find another way to be active. You've never seemed to like running all that much or express any joy from doing it.

How is it the right call? I thought the average young male can break 5 in the mile?
While your assessment is correct, the average david45 can't even break 6.
I hope you are not a troll.
But nonetheless here's best advice. You should work on your running form and efficient foot landing .
And If anytime you get slight niggles during the middle of your run then stop and do a quick massage, stretch , quick drill and continue . Thats how you avoid injury, put in mileage and become faster. All the best David if running is what you truly want
I hope he IS a troll. No human deserves to be as slow as he is... Lol.
You should eat more and see what happens
Business and click counts must be slow? After several weeks, the david45 persona is getting rolled out again.

How do you know if I have no talent?

Doesn't matter. Lots of people can't run consistently day after day without getting hurt. Doesn't matter if you've tried for 2 years or 10.
Stop running. Or at least stop trying to compete. Just run every other day for health. Lift weights every other day or just find something else fun.
Alan
So
there is no way I can be a good runner
?
Now you're starting to get it. I hope you're not as slow learning the material in your classes as you are figuring this out or running, because you're going to fail out if that's the case.

Why do you have to be so negative?
Ever heard of Reed Fischer? Guy ran 25 min or so for his first 5k. Many years later he ran a 61 min half and is now one of the strongest horses in the pro team "Tinman Elite".
I couldn't run/train properly for 8 damn years due to chronic shin splints and lots of training mistakes and a degenerated body from 10 years of pro-gaming with 0 physical activity. Then, in just 3 years I went from 20:00 5k to 15:55, and I started training for running at 30 years old!
Yes, David is super slow RIGHT NOW. Yes, David can't take the pounding RIGHT NOW. But how can you say for sure he will never become let's say a 15 min 5k guy if he would fix all his issues, stays dedicated to the sport and gets some really good training years in?
Lots of other runners have similar stories. Heard of Ben Parkes? Guy couldn't even run a sub 4 marathon when he started. Now he is seriously challenging 2:20, and turned his hobby into a living.
You are ruining the future of a potential great runner with your negativity.
And last but not least - seriously you want him to pick up cycling? Why not straight up try to kill him? He is so clumsy and untalented (your own words) for sports, you really think he could handle clipless pedals? There would be some serious dangers when he needs to stop at a traffic light, he would fail clipping out and getting to stand still and might get injured. Even if he somehow handles the clipless pedals, what if he goes on a big downhill from a mountain? You think he could handle going down at 50-60 mph and sharp curves or serpentines? David is like the last person I would recommend cycling (or skiing, same story) to. In running he can't do much wrong - as long as he avoids super technical trails, it will be hard for him to actively risk his life running around at his usual 11 min mile pace.
