We were perusing our copy of Race Results Weekly tonight and realize we missed an ultra from over the weekend.

You just owned them with this response. Well played. Well played! -
There were men that beat her; therefore, she did NOT win the race.

There are always two separate races. One for men, one for women and you should know that.
It's the same on track I believe. -
These ultra folks are just on a different plane of toughness or love running that much. I admire them, but I would probably just go to the hospital myself. Hardcore for me is my career and then there is a big drop-off. Kudos to her.

They love being out there with their backpack on, hiking along for 10 hours. Ultrarunning should be shortened to 'walking'.

Ultrarunner here.
Not sure if they are tougher. Right now a lot of them seem to be more on the dumb side of things. Kind of embarrassing for the sport, really. -
We still have men and women?
-
She identified as a female hiker at packet pickup.

Ultra runners typically don’t wear backpacks. There’s no need for the extra weight and the chaffing it would cause. There are a few people that wear camelbacks during particularly hot events.
I only see people wearing backpacks during marathons.
I once saw a guy dragging a car tire with a chain during an ultra. I don’t know why. I guess it never occurred to him to roll it. -

Lol....what? -
You’re right they don’t wear backpacks. They wear “running vests”, which are both back and front packs. Much like ultra”running” the term is very far from reality.
