Does doping with EPO give an athlete more energy?
That's what we are supposed to believe, right?
So how does that work? Where does this extra energy come from?

Who on earth thinks EPO gives you energy? I have never heard anyone say that before. Can you give us a link to anyone who thinks EPO gives you energy? Why on earth would you think red blood cells (i.e. what EPO increases) gives energy? Didn't you learn in biology that aerobic energy comes from the krebs cycle? Doesn't take a genius to figure out how more redblood cells would help with that.

So it does give you more energy?
Well how does it do that? How does having more red blood cells than normal, give you more "aerobic energy"?
Does it mean you can run a 10k burning the same rate of energy as your old 5k pace?
So how would that work? Where the extra energy come from?
No idea how EPO works, but it increases the size or quantity of red blood cells, then it will increase your bloods oxygen carrying capacity... hence cellss can respire more and deliver more energy to the muscles.
Yet another Jon Orange thread.
Armstronglivs, please share with us your expertise on how EPO delivers more oxygen without breathing more air?
You still haven't explained it yet.

That's what everyone says isn't it? But where does that extra energy come from?
You see the coxky way Mo Farah raced on the track, going straight to the back and toying with the field in world finals? Thats the confidence EPO gives, knowing you're good because of the juice.
I believe EPO has the ability to shorten up your life, if not used properly!
on my side it's a movie wrote:

I thought he was doing that because he didn't want to set the pace? Smart move, it worked well for him.

I stopped believing that injections of EPO were better than normal hematocrit back in 1992.
Someone explain why they believe otherwise?

Not to your ability to understand, obviously. Come on, Jon - EPO is above your comprehension level; why don't you head over to the fake moon landings thread?
So tell me, tell us, tell everyone how EPO delivers more oxygen from the same volume of air?
How does that work?

Because we're smarter than you, Jon.
Explain how EPO delivers more oxygen without extra heat production?
How does that work?

Rbc’s carry hgb. Hgb carries o2. More rbcs carrying more hgb means carrying more o2. More o2 means holding off going anaerobic/ lactic that much longer.

Who said it didn't?
So you believe that more oxygen uptake = more heat production?
But more oxygen uptake from EPO doping circumvents thermodynamics?
How does that work?

No, it does not circumvent it, nor does it have to. You're already using more oxygen and getting warmer as soon as you start running. A little more won't kill you.
Any increase of heat is within the capacity of the body to cope with.
That's why Geb and Tergat looked like they had been hosed down at the finish of the Olympics 10 k.
Any more questions?

So basically, you don't believe thermodynamics affects running?
How does that work?
