I'm a junior and starting track training with my team a few weeks ago. The problem is that I'd been training since the end of XC while they haven't. It's been pretty bad since they're running at like 8:40 min/mile during easy runs where by myself I'd do maybe 7:00 min/mile. Yes I know they're easy runs and you're supposed to take them easy, but it's a really big difference and it feels even... uncomfortable? to run at that pace if you know what I mean? They seem to be very unmotivated as well and have no goals, while I have times and goals this season I'm trying to chase, so I want to be improving. So what do I do- run with my team and best friends, the people I'd been training with for three years, or run by myself and be disconnected from the team & pack feeling a bit? Advice would be very much appreciated.
