1. Karen Carpenter. Unbelievable talent and pure beauty in her voice. Her passing was a horrible tragedy. And Karen was a great drummer to boot.
2. Judy Collins
3. Linda Rondstadt
4. Eva Cassidy
5. Anni-Frid Lyngstad
6. Agnetha Faltskog
Ok, I listed 6 instead of 5... I had to because Anni-Frid and Agnetha were part of ABBA and I couldn't pick one without the other. And I wasn't going to scratch any of the others off the list!
Your top three would be on my list, but Madonna and Adele would finish my list. I put Pat Benatar as honorable mention.

Still thinking about the others.
I will have to re-think my list now. Those two are definitely on it.

This retro punk obsession has your brain fried. FIVE not nine.
"Retro punk"?? Da heck is that?
Laura Branigan - very underrated, may she rest in peace
Debbie Gibson - get beyond the bubble gum pop and there is much talent there. If only she had the Internet at 15.
Oonagh - look her up, some interesting stuff
Katherine Jenkins - all class
Marie Fredriksson - I gave her the nod post mortem over Sheena Easton.

Sandy and Maddy: FABULOUS British vocalists who also both had collaborated with Dave Cousins and Strawbs!
Only five of them?
Gladys Knight
Whitney Houston
Mariah Carey
Norah Jones
Alessia Cara
Others I have considered: Diana Ross, Aretha Franklin, Dionne Warwick, Dusty Springfield, Patti Labelle, Roberta Flack, Donna Summer, Natalie Cole, Toni Braxton, LeAnn Rimes, Natalie Merchant, Sarah McLachlan, Alicia Keys, Corrine Bailey Rae, Joss Stone, Andrea Corr. I love Carole King and Laura Niro, but more as songwriters than singers.

Other than Woke Culture, what makes you assume that my five favorite singers are female? Enough of this nonsense.
