Looking at championship meet results and comparing to some kid's PR is pointless. I could have won the 2016 olympic 1500 if you want to play that game. Georgetown had 6 guys break 1:51 outdoor 2019. I guarantee that some of them are not getting even $1. This thread is typical of Letsrun. Somebody gets upset by looking at some meet results and the team doesn't offer them a scholarship but they think they are as fast as the current squad.
The three runners who placed at the 2019 Big East Championships for Georgetown were all running near their PBs in that final. Also at NCAA East Regionals.
Only one Georgetown runner in the 2019 conference 800m--Joseph White--had an elite 800m PB (from several years prior), and he is old. Somehow his eligibility extended longer than was intended.
Now that the true nature of the competition has been revealed, "Tough as Runners" could not have won the 2016 Olympic 1500m.
What I said was correct. If it wasn't for PEDs (and now cheater shoes), only the tracks could make much difference from when I was competing. And the tracks were plenty fast back then.
So, times have not changed for admittance into universities. Are there more runners now that could break 1:49 for 800m during their HS regular season than when I was in HS?
---I don't include times in post-season meets.
