I have seen no evidence that they make "Good fast shoes for Pros". With all the new signings, I would hope they start to make some serious shoes.

Bolt was pretty fast.
Let's see if they bring back the Harambee
I'm not a sprinter, but as a shoe geek their sprint spikes look pretty good. Not sure about their trainers, haven't really given them much of a look
They actually had a nice line of lightweight, stripped-down, no-nonsense training and racing flats about a decade ago, the FAAS series.

If they could replicate those with lighter and softer foams, that would show they're ready to be a player again.
If Puma wants they can make really good running shoes.
That Faas range was an intelligent attempt, same as pearl izumi's Emotion range.
my favorite trainers of all time were the puma eutopias. have never found a replacement after all of these years. certainly not from modern puma. ?
I've been wondering the same thing. What are all the big names going to run in? Its not like they have a Vaporfly or even a decent daily trainer that I am aware of. I hope all these signings mean they are ready to invest in the performance running market.

My first running shoe in 1970 was the Puma Roma. They were once one of two choices if you were buying a running shoe. In the fifty years since I had those Romas Puma has mostly given up trying to sell running shoes, decided to try again, given up again, etc. They've had more comebacks than Dracula and Nixon combined. Herb Elliott was their president for a while and was making personal calls to running shops asking them to consider selling Puma shoes. And then he wasn't president anymore and the shops that had sold their shoes didn't have any to sell.
Making a good running shoe is not like building a fusion reactor. Puma can do it and has the resources to stay in the market until people recognize them as a running shoe company and buy their stuff. The question to me is whether they're back to stay this time.
I think Puma could make good shoes if they really wanted to. Right now I think all of their models are overshadowed by the major big brands.
Their clothing line is pretty good. Not sure about their running specific clothes.
They sign big athletes because they have the money, they signed mondo duplantis because they offered more than nike. I guarentee no one's signs for their shoes, I can't attest for their sprint spikes cause I'm not a sprinter. I would personally never wear their shoes. However, they have the resources to make good shoes and enter the market, that's basically adidas. Adidas has good competition shoes, but I personally see their trainers as enferior to most.
Yes.
Puma used to be a minor player in the running shoe game but now do not make good running shoes. But if Skechers can make top of the line running shoes, puma sure as hell can again if they want to.
They have some sort of modern-foam, carbon-plated, heavy trainer thing. And they can clearly make spikes, though it remains to be seen what will be competitive in that realm now that Nike is putting more effort into that.
But anything like Nike or Adidas (or even Skechers) has right now? I don't see it.
Bill Rodgers was under contract to them but didn't even like them. He took a pair of Tigers (now called Asics) and painted the Puma logo on them.
The Harambee is by far the best spike ever made. Their trainers suck, but the Harambee...I could run in those for days. FOR DAYS!
anybody know when they plan on dropping the new line of shoes and gear?
Someone gave me a new pair of Puma FAAS 500 trail shoes about 10 years ago. They sat in my garage. Short on cash due to pandemic reduced hours at work and needing new shoes, I pulled these out and started running in them
I like them. They fit well. 4mm drop The midsole is a bit firm but very stable and actually responsive. Midsole. and the whole shoe seems very durable with a couple hundred miles on them so far. They run faster than their weight and design would indicate.
The midsole reminds me of pearl izumi shoes or some of the older adidas midsoles.
Maybe its the price or the reminder of the way shoes used to be, but yes Puma can be a good running shoe brand.
