I would love to say 2022-2023 when most records have been reset and there are fewer surprise performances since people have had the shoes for a few years / each races has been run a few times with people having access to the shoes. All shoe companies should have their own shoe at that point so coming out with one won't be a huge deal.
That said, unfortunately it seems likely to take longer for a couple reasons:
- Track spikes - these will start to be a factor this year with Nike's, then there will be 1-2 years of people catching up after that. After everyone has them it will take some time for the performances to catch up.
- New versions of supershoes. Right now most brands are on V1 and Nike I'm sure is still trying to innovate despite having a couple versions already. There will be new versions that come out that someone will run well in that will get people talking about if it's the shoes of the running
That makes it feel like it will be a discussion topic through 2025. I hope not, though.
