I'm in the civil engineering & construction industry and worked in the private sector during the housing boom. That career field took a large hit during the '08 recession, and I've been working in local government ever since due to the better job security.
So 2020 comes around, and I recently got a memo saying that vaccinations are starting for employees, beginning with the cops and firemen. It says that vaccines will eventually be required for all employees with "public contact", which is kind of vague. Is dealing with contractors also considered public contact, or does that apply only to receptionists, cops, and firefighters?
I'm seriously thinking of changing jobs and possibly careers if my position requires me to get vaccinated. I suppose lawyering up and/or claiming a religious exemption are also options, but I don't want it to affect my future career prospects if that fails.
Anyone else in the same boat?
