I say no. The world is crawling on getting vaccinations done. No way we have enough done by then. Discus.

No.
Too many poor countries that will never see a vaccine.
Yes. You don't need to vaccinate the world in order to host a sporting event.
Yes. 80% of events cancelled. Relocated to Northern Hokkaido.
Yes. I also think some events will be canceled though. Maybe some will even be dispersed to other locations.
Obviously people are coming from all over the world so its a bit sketchy with rona. The other important sports have resumed with international players coming back. Vaccines are available to some now so we're transitioning back to normal surely but surely. Olympics will happen.
Virtual racing seems to really be taking off. Maybe they can use this format for the track races and the marathon.
I don't think they will happen. Japan has done a very good job at controlling the virus in their country. However, outside of their country it is still raging on. I'm not sure even Japan wants to have all these people descend upon their country and risk infecting millions of Japanese.
Probably in a scaled back format. Covid vaccine will be needed for any spectators.
They are doing sports now without spectators, and this will probably be it for less popular venues with only TV present.
Stadium will be limited as well as bigger more popular venues. They have to save face and make up some of the costs.
If a new virus is rolled out by the globalists, it won't happen.
Not happening. No Boston Marathon either.
Has Boston made announced anything?
They should still say it is going to be virtual the week of Patriots Day and start it back next year.
Don't hang on for hope that it can be run in September or October. People will need to know the date soon and I don't know how the BAA can guess how many will have the vaccine by Sept/Oct to plan.
Complete guess from hearing others is that around July only 50% of the US population will have the vaccine. Will that be enough to plan a major marathon with thousands of people coming from around the US and world to run in Sept/Oct a couple months later?

They just had a soccer match with 24,000+ spectators.
https://www.reuters.com/article/soccer-japan-levain/soccer-fc-tokyo-win-japans-levain-cup-after-two-month-coronavirus-delay-idUSL1N2JF0BMNo. Europe is starting to lockdown now. Just see the new thread. Japan is getting worried too.
Yes. Probably with no foreign spectators. Athletes, coaches, and officials will have to arrive three weeks before the games, pass a COVID test before boarding their flight and also upon arrival, and will have heavily restricted movement once in Japan. If you test positive at any point or leave the "bubble", your Olympics are over.
The Games will go on but, the hotels and airlines will take a huge bath on this as no tourists will be allowed in.

I believe this is the correct answer.

If the liberals are in charge, NO! Grandma might die 18 days earlier than otherwise. Heartless. Cruel. #sad
If it does it will only be for Japanese athletes. I don't think Japan will allow people in by July.

I'd still argue they've done tremendously well considering they have 29 deaths per million with an older population than any other country in the world and being extremely densely populated with the largest metro are in the world.
Daily deaths are at all time high there too of course, so things could escalate there as well (with a pretty bad result given the demographic)
But so far, they've been brilliant.
