Prediction: no one finishes. WR for men is too aggressive - they'll likely all blow up.
Camille will either set the AR or DNF.
If the men manage to hang on, I'd put Hawks in front of Jim. But none of them are getting the WR.

Undisclosed location around Phoenix? And Japan?
Will need to know what the weather and course will be like before any predictions.
Stay tuned, but maybe not for eight hours.

Part of the same course as the Marathon Project, but a longer loop. 9 loops total to 100k.
Starting temperature around 50F, ending temperature around 60F. 20-40% chance of rain. Winds 10MPH from the south.
https://racewildhorse.com/location-map/I don’t see Jim breaking the Kazami record it would require pacing discipline I am not sure he has. Hayden will run well but he is not going to get near a record time.
The women will struggle Camille probably the best of them as the Irish girl is pregnant but is too slow to break even 7 hours. The mark of 6:33 is a proper record set by a world class marathon runner which none of these women are. Some would not maintain 6:33 record pace over a half marathon.

Does Jim win? Does he get he WR? And does Camille win and what's her time?
No
No way
Maybe in around 7:30

Walmsley applied for Leadville a couple years back.
They didn't pick him.
He was surprised about that, understandably.
I can imagine, he will never go back there.
Yep. Big Jim is literally bigger than Leadville. That race will never be the same if they don't right their wrong and convince Big Jim to give them a second chance.
Yiannis Kouros hasn’t set any proper records cause he sucked at the marathon.
I say Jim wins and comes 1 minute short of WR
5 minutes. I'll have to check the weather. Assuming perfect for the start but 6 hours from now could get warm out there in the desert. So today we get a 100K race, tomorrow a track meet with the longest event a 300 meter. I'm more of an 800 - 10K kind of guy but I'll take what I can get these days.
The race is on.

Weather looking pretty darn good. Mid 50s at the start moving up to low 60s for a high. Light winds and mostly/partly cloudy skies. Can't really ask for a better day.
I'll make my prediction after four hours in. Is that fair?
When will Tony and Carrie run out of things to say?
apparently they had to talk down Hayden as he wanted a chance at breaking 6 hours. They convinced him to stick with the world record pace group.
Dumb thing - they have a world record countdown clock that started at 6:09 when the race began. So unhelpful! might be cool with a mile to go
54 degrees, no wind. Might warm up tho in a few hours.
Maybe Gwen Jorgensen should try Ultras? Seeing her and Camille run together would be a beautiful thing.
Why do so many ultra guys wear hats? Are they sunscreens?
Hats are good for sun, sweat, and they look cool.
Camille’s stride is picturesque
Eight laps to go. Pretty exciting!
